I usually go to these cinemas on Sundays with one or two friends. In summer, there is either no a/c or very low, so you roast. Winter is the opposite, you have to keep a warm coat on or you’ll freeze (especially in the larger cinemas). Seats are worn out, only one very slow person at the concession stand so you either have to stand in line forever and go into the movie when it’s started or you just bring your food and beverage with you. The toilets are usually all clogged up. The worst experience so far was last Sunday when my friend and I went to see the film “May December”. From the beginning of the film we looked at each other to see if we were both seeing ( or rather NOT seeing) the same thing: movie was blurry, out of focus but the worst part was that it was so extremely DARK you couldn’t tell what was happening in 90% of the scenes. Super irritating, we both left with a massive headache. Also, for about 20 minutes, you could see a watermark at the bottom of the screen which said “property of xxxx productions”… all indicative of a pirated copy. Both my friend and I asked the cinema staff about this and they just said “that’s the way the movie is”. Turns out it’s not true: I went home and viewed the trailer on my TV and everything was in focus and as clear as day. I sent an email to management and they basically apologized but no refund and they said it was a legitimate copy… pathetic and a total waste of time, money and eyesight. I have lodged a formal complaint with the office of the consumer....
Read moreI recently visited a cinema that unfortunately did not meet my expectations. The first thing that struck me was the smell of mold and stale air that permeated the entire venue.
The seat itself was a disappointment. It was not only outdated and worn out, but also dirty and uncomfortable. The cushions were flat, and the back support was almost nonexistent. It felt like the seat hadn't been cleaned in a long time, which made me feel compelled to keep my jacket on throughout the film.
The venue itself was also in dire need of renovation. There were visible signs of wear and tear, which gave the impression that the cinema didn't care about creating a pleasant experience for its visitors. The lighting was also dim and didn't improve...
Read moreIt was maybe the first film I’d seen here since Red Dog took over, but I’ll be very hesitant to return. I went to see Gladiator 2, a certificate 15 film. However, a couple with 3 boys, all clearly well under 15 years of age, sat in front of me. It soon became clear that the 3 young boys were not interested in the film, one had even brought an iPad to watch something else. They got up and down throughout , made a lot of noise talking, & completely spoiled the film for me. A) Why were they allowed in to see a (very violent, at times) cert 15 film???, & b) why was there no cinema usher to monitor behavior inside the theatre. Very poor & unprofessional on the part of Red Dog & their...
