For all English speakers and non-native Spanish learners, be warned about the passive aggressive, rudeness and unhinged behaviour you might experience from this store’s worker. I am posting my experience in English and in Spanish:
I visited this store today and experienced rude and disturbing behavior from a staff. The employee with glasses spoke English to me, but I did not initiate nor spoke English and I spoke in Spanish and I said, “Can we speak Spanish?” The person said he didn’t speak any Spanish and then I asked him what language he spoke; he replied that he only spoke English. I apologized and so I continued to look around and choose my item. I then heard him speak Spanish to all the customers coming in, very fluently. When I got to the checkout to pay, he continued to speak in English. I gave him a €50 note and he said I couldn’t change it, so I gave him coins. At that point, I took out all the coins I had and counted them, as I was out of €1 and €2 coins, and was rushing me to leave. And he continued to speak in English, wishing me to meet again. I felt very uncomfortable by this behavior. Is this how people behave in Toledo? Rushing around and dismissing people’s abilities? It was the most humiliating experience I have ever had and made me question my ability to speak. He also spoke with a Native American accent, but the words and phrases he used seemed intense and inappropriate when speaking to someone you don’t normally know. The store needs to train its employees on how to be effective in service and not be rude and passive aggressive and to treat everyone with decency and understanding. I left the city with a bad perception and I would not recommend and hope anyone avoids this store. Disgusting!

The marzipans were quite delicious — we bought chocolate-covered marzipan, sugar-free almond paste, and caramel almond paste. This will be one of the first places we stop by again when we...
