Terrible Experience with Tanzania safari source tours (Joining safari and trekkers same company)

– Advice to Book Somewhere Else!

After four months in Tanzania, this was by far the worst experience we've had. We booked a day trip to Ngorongoro from Arusha for $200 per person, expecting professionalism. What we got was anything but.

The day started at 5:30 AM, which was one of the reasons we chose this tour operator. The driver showed up on time, but the vehicle was in poor condition, and the guide barely spoke English. We spent 1.5 hours aimlessly driving around Arusha, picking up other clients due to miscommunication. Then, a last-minute vehicle and guide swap delayed us even further.

At the Ngorongoro gate, all other safari cars passed through quickly, but we waited for an hour. At the second gate, things got worse: we were stuck for nearly two hours because the company hadn’t arranged the necessary permits! They tried to blame the TANAPA staff, but the park staff and our drivers made it clear that the tour operator was unprepared. Since the tour operator hires drivers, no one from the company accompanies you during the safari, which complicated matters further.

With limited time left, we suggested having lunch while waiting, but even that wasn’t allowed. When we finally entered the crater, we had only 2.5 hours to see a small part of the park. What should have been a highlight was rushed and frustrating.

To top it off, their payment practices were questionable. They refused to use the official exchange rate, trying to overcharge us. Customer service during the day? Non-existent. Everyone received the same copy-paste response: “Thanks for your feedback.” Before payment, they were friendly and helpful, but once the payment was finished, they ignored us.

Following this day, we attempted to resolve the issue with the company. Initially, the manager claimed there had been "misunderstandings" and promised to explain them in detail. Despite scheduling a follow-up conversation, they ignored us on the agreed-upon day. Their attempts to deflect responsibility were frustrating and unprofessional.

When we requested a solution, such as a refund, the manager labeled it inappropriate, claiming he fulfilled all the "services" and was not responsible for personal expectations. Ultimately, we were left with no resolution, and the company demonstrated a clear lack of accountability.

Ngorongoro itself is stunning, but if you want a memorable experience, do not book with this company. We were left with nothing but frustration, ignored complaints, and...
