Danger to the visitors - lack of truck maintenance, inexperienced and unprepared driver, missing equipment, non-existent customer care.

I spent 3 days on a tour organized by this company.

Day 1 - an hour into the Serengeti, the engine caught fire. Instead of calling for a rescue truck, the driver waited for other trucks to stop, and relied on the other drivers and tourists to temporarily patch the problem. A group of tourists managed to disconnect all electronics just to get the engine running so that we could get to camp. With no electronics, the truck had no headlights. It was after sunset and the driver had no emergency equipment, no torch. Thankfully a tourist in the group had a torch with him which he used to shine some light ahead of the truck. 30 minutes into driving in the dark the group checked the GPS and realized we were headed in the wrong direction, in the opposite direction of the camp. The driver didn't know how to find the camp and yet again relied on the group of visitors to solve the situation. We arrived at the camp 3 hours past the expected time, which is when the driver realized he did not bring enough tents for the group. He had to go look for a spare tent among other drivers, and I ended up sleeping in a torn up tent with large holes. Not only was this unprofessional and far below the standards, when you're sleeping in the bush with plenty of wildlife, it is quite unsafe.

Day 2 - the operator was notified about the issues, the response from the operator was "it is what it is".

Overnight the driver supposedly took the truck to be repaired. During the morning game drive he kept relying on another driver to navigate and spot wildlife. On the way out of Serengeti, the truck broke down again. Dirty fuel getting pumped into the engine. Again, a group of tourists and drivers from other trucks came to the rescue. Not 2 minutes later, the truck stopped again. This time the group refused to continue with the vehicle and got rescued by another company, getting dropped off at the camp.

Day 3 - because the entire group refused to continue unless a replacement was provided, the organizer finally sent another truck. Although there was a 2 hour delay in starting the game drive while waiting for the replacement, at least this engine didnt break down. Following the game drive, instead of being driven back to Arusha, as soon as we arrived in Karatu the driver called a taxi (a rather old Noah minivan with badly cracked windshield and torn up seats) to take us back. The cherry 🍒 on top? The taxi driver asked us to pay for the ride from Karatu to Arusha (the tour package was "from and to Arusha", all transfers included).

We had a fantastic honeymoon safari with Foot Slopes. We wanted to hire a local operator (better value, and feeling that the money was going to stay there). Foot Slopes was perfect for us - run by Gabriel Elibariki who is an experienced operator and entrepreneur, with an amazing guide (Emanuel) with our own private car, staying in top-notch lodges and seeing tons of animals in each park we visited. We feel like we stayed longer in each park and did more mileage - as long as we wanted to be out, Emanuel would drive and find us animals.

Of course we wanted assurance that the company was legit before booking and sending a deposit. Gabriel was super responsive, produced all the needed licenses, and video called on Whatsapp so we could see it was “the real guy”. Everything matched - business bank account, licenses, social media, Whatsapp - so we went ahead and it was worth it!

We highly recommend Foot Slopes. Communications were great, they carefully chose an itinerary for us, picked us up, drove us everywhere, got all the permits, food and accommodation.

This Safari went over and above our expectations, Perfect organization, very nice and qualified guiding crew. Foot Slopes Team did a great job sorting the trip out, from start to finish and was very prompt at returning my emails on the same day. Kindu our driver and guide was excellent! Very professional, friendly and super accommodating. With more than 15 years’ experience and still a great passion for nature and wildlife, you couldn't have to ask for any superior. The campsite we stayed in along the way were great, the service and food was very tasted

We are already trying to decide when we can come back and do more, and we will defiantly be using Foot Slopes Tours again.

From the first steps of planning up to the last transport to the hotel at the end to drop off at the airport, everything was perfectly organized by Foot Slopes Tours. With Kindu we had a very qualified and friendly guide and driver and Seif who cooked a very delicious food for us.
