There are vendors lining the streets around Robinsons Department store, and a Food Court right behind Robinsons. Just head to the river off the BTS and turn right onto the last street before the river, you will see the Food Court and the street stalls. Just walk around the block and soak it in. The food in the food court is excellent and cheap, average about 40 baht per dish. There are also stalls selling clothes, mostly for women.
