Today I visited Yas Mall for a quick eye test while wearing my standard ADNOC red work coverall, as I had come directly from duty. As I exited the store, a security guard in a blue T-shirt stopped me and stated that my attire was “inappropriate” and that work uniforms are not allowed inside the mall.

This was completely unacceptable, What made the situation even more concerning was that several other visitors around me were wearing clearly inappropriate attire, yet none of them were stopped or questioned. I am left wondering why I was singled out while others were not approached at all.

As someone working in the oil and gas sector, I take pride in my uniform it represents duty, safety, and the essential work that supports one of the country’s most critical industries. To label a professional work coverall as “not allowed” is disrespectful, unprofessional, and shows a clear lack of understanding of the value uniformed workers bring to this nation.
