A real drinkers pub n I'm from out of Bath n it's the first time I've really enjoyed a pint of Mallets Cider (of the Gods). It was like nectar and reminded me of what the old Blackthorn Cider was like only more better n it's not the only excilant draft cider on offer, Init!! A top notch n A1 British Pub, check it out, u might like it to? With filled rolls behind the bar n cheese n biscuits (a top notch n eclectic selection n properly matured) on a Thursday evening for any drinkers what can be bothered to turn up! I've been having a wee quite drink and a band rocks up n almost fills one of the bars and the rest of the pub cannot help it's self from getting down n in to it. Its a quality pub without trying to be anything that it's not, the drinks the real open fires n even them rolls are pucker n Best in Bath n beyond! It is a genuine real through n through "proper job" west country...

I am a huge fan of this pub, which I consider among the best traditional pubs I have ever been! The vibe, the atmosphere and the staff are always incredible and welcoming. Unfortunately I went back yesterday after a long time and I discovered with my deepest sadness that a large tv has been placed in one of the rooms, just on top of the piano. Why??! Ok, there is the rugby, but people don't go to the Star to watch the rugby, they go for the intimate charming atmosphere and the fireplaces. Please, please, please consider removing the tv from there. The risk is that in few years the Star will end up just another average traditional pub with slot machines and football games. Please don't do that! :( Reply: Ok, it turned out the tv was temporary! (Phew!!) 5 stars...

Very friendly atmosphere and does not discriminate in my 3 evenings I spent around the pub it had people from every walk of life in there and most where willing to talk to an out of towner which made my life easier, nothing worse than walking into a clicky pub full of locals that don't want your arse there thats not the case with the Star Inn loads of history fire place and plenty of seating I stayed across the road from here and found it very pleasant with lots of local beers on tap and the usual,...

What a great old worldly pub. A few small rooms all with wood panelling and glass partitions. Old type fireplaces. Wooden floors throughout. Tap beers and real ales available. It's really like going back in time, brilliant. Staff were friendly, polite and helpful. Old type bench seats. Beer was good. Great visit.

Situated at end (from the City centre) of a long gently curving terrace, a lovely old pub serving good beer! Friendly staff and clientele. Don't be put off by the somewhat traffic induced grimy exterior. A gem of a pub!
