Dragon Workshop — Local services in Bristol

Overall ,a significant disappointment which has left me several hundreds of pounds out of pocket for my fiancé's engagement ring. I was recommended dragon workshop by a friend and spoke to Harold several times over the phone , I provided him specifications of what we were hoping for and sent him photos with multiple angles and asked him to replicate it which he told he could.

Harold was pleasant over the phone and was able to make the ring for the agreed time. However when we arrive the ring was far from what we asked for. The band was thick and sharp edges and the setting was a different shape. When questioning Harold as to why the ring was different he explained he made the ring how he thinks it should look which ultimately is not what we asked. Both parties then agreed it would be appropriate to have the ring made somewhere else as it was not what we asked for and Harold subsequently tried to charge me near full price for a ring we did not want. We agreed a different price and parted ways.

Several weeks later I took what he had made and to another jewellers and they explained the product he had given us was illegal as it was not hallmarked despite when we went to see the ring it was for final collection. Additionally, they pointed out he had not provided me with the GIA certificate for the diamond. I called him up that day and he sent it to me but provided no explanation as to why he did not give it to us on the day or did not contact us after leaving his store to inform us we had left it behind.

Fortunately, I have found another store who is willing to use the stone I paid for to make the ring but ultimately I am now several hundreds of pounds down because Harold decided to make our engagement ring the way he felt it should look as opposed to the way we asked without...

Maybe I caught Harold on a bad day. I phoned him in a flap in April 2023 because I needed someone with the right tools for what I described on the phone as "a 5 minute job" on a nearly worthless commissioned piece that another jeweller had made a pigs' ear of. If Harold had mentioned over the phone that he couldn't look at it for at least a week I would have looked for appropriate tools instead of travelling an hour and a half to see him and be turned away.

This is not 1* because it would be unfair to expect him to do the work on such short notice but if Harold had stayed 5 minutes late that day and saved my bacon I would probably be looking at his stock this year for our wedding. Have bought some beautiful jewellery and had things made by Harold over the years. Sadly, have to give an update to this review. Not sure what’s gone wrong at the Dragon Workshop. I asked Harold to get some gemstones in for me to look at to make a new item of jewellery. That was three months ago. He hasn’t been in contact with me. I’ve now had to get what I wanted elsewhere.
