My wife and I have just returned from a wonderful four-night break in Edinburgh, staying at The Garden Flat. The apartment looks divine in the photos but the reality is, if anything, even better.

The whole property is packed with thoughtful little touches and great attention to detail. First impressions: spotlessly clean, warm and cosy, modern, quality fixtures and fittings, well-maintained, quirky artwork; a five-star home-from-home. The kitchen is equipped with top-of-the-range appliances, there are high-quality furnishings and AV features include a large smart TV and Sonos audio. The garden area presents a peaceful outlook from the stunning lounge / dining kitchen. Effective heating throughout the apartment is supplemented by the wood-burning stove - perfect for cosy relaxation on chilly winter evenings. The place felt very spacious for the two of us but also provides generous proportions for four (eg two couples or a family) served by two large bedrooms and two bathrooms (one en-suite).

The location in the heart of the New Town is perfect - city centre shops, restaurants, bars and attractions (New Town and Old Town) can be reached within a 10 - 25 minute walk. Bus stops at both ends of the street offer frequent and reliable services to many parts of the city. Two small supermarkets and a whole host of independent shops in the local area make it easy to self-cater. However, with an unbelievable range of outstanding cafes and restaurants (many offering take-aways) within 15 minutes' walk of the apartment, many will want to let someone else do the cooking.

Helpful communications from the owner included a comprehensive guide to the property along with a great list of recommended eateries and shops.

Stayed at The Garden Flat for two nights (May 2024) on our UK driving vacation. If you need a place to stay in Edinburgh, I recommend that you look here first. The Garden Flat is a lovely place: perfect location, very clean, modern amenities. If we return to Edinburgh, we will definitely stay here again.

Scott was the perfect kind of host. Before our visit, we exchanged several sets of emails. He responded quickly with thorough answers. He provided a visitor’s guide to the city and provided many restaurant recommendations. Self check-in was easy with a key safe outside the front door. Scott also took time to label light switches and provide instructions on how to use the amenities.

Other things to note: 1) For an extra charge, Scott provided access to a parking garage down the street with a dedicated parking spot. Even with the map provided, it was a challenge to find that exact spot as the underground garage had many sections and levels. 2) Paying for something in another country by bank wire transfer does raise a security concern. But it all worked out fine. 3) Lastly and a bit of a personal pet peeve, I don’t mind collecting all our trash for the check-out process. I do think it’s a big ask to require that we take the trash to a dumpster down at the end of the street. We recently enjoyed a fantastic 3-night stay at this beautifully decorated apartment in Edinburgh. The interieur was gorgeous, tastefully decorated and had wonderful amenities. The kitchen fully equipped with everthing needed (though we did not cook, as there were many great places to eat out within a a short stroll) the beds confortable and the 2 bathrooms spotlessly clean. The quiet and pretty neighbourhood, along with the stunning backyard garden, made the appartment just perfect for us. Scottisch weather is quite unpredictable and you might be suprised with warm rays of sun or rainshowers and gusty winds. We loved loved loved to be able to heat up the bedrooms in a very short time. This made our day after we attended an amazing outdoor event and arrived back in the appartment almost frozen.

The location was ideal, within a good walking distance to almost everywhere, making it easy to explore different parts of the city. The apartment does not come with a parking lot, but the owners arranged us one very close by. It was very much appreciated as we travelled by our car.
