Very inattentive staff
The bar is lovely and cosy (Little Rascal should aim for this ambience).
However, despite the bar being quiet, the service was very poor. We waited at least 5 minutes before someone brought us (drink) menus.
We had to flag down the staff each time we needed service. There really was no excuse, as there wasn't anyone else to serve. We sat with empty glasses for at least 10 minutes before we managed to flag down staff.
The toilet was disgusting. When I asked for toilet paper, they were prompt in replacing it. But they didn't clean up the toilet. I had to do that. Why would staff not make sure the toilets are clean and welcoming?
We wanted to spend more time there, because it's nece and relaxed and chilled with great wine and cocktails. But the staff ignored us. We waited another 10-15 minutes before we got so annoyed and went to the bar to ask for the bill. When we got to the bar, they were so nice and chatty... So... We have to come to you? At a table service bar? We went elsewhere.
Such a shame. I really want to like this place. I really want...
Read moreWe have been here a few times. First couple of times were great, the owner has obviously a vast wine knowledge. We had some amazing tasty wines, these are obviously more expensive than your usual £4 glasses of plonk in Hectors! But unfortunately the last 2 times we've been, we had some food the first time and it was below average, and the last time we had a bottle of wine which was from the wild wine range... Unfortunately it was way off what we were expecting, and had to return it... We got another bottle from the range which was very tasty... When the bill came the waitress insisted that we had to pay for the off wine... And that's how it's meant to taste.... Full of ammonia? No thanks. Eventually we had to threaten to not pay anything and leave before she took it off the list.
Unfortunately this is the final time we'll be in. So promising, in such a...
Read moreWent here for a couple of hours on Friday with my fiancee around 5pm and was pleasantly surprised to find a quiet atmosphere with just a few other guests when we entered (though it did fill mostly up by the time we left)
The wine menu was great, not overwhelming nor sparse, and they had an autumn offer on orange wines which we took up and enjoyed! The food (appetizers) was reasonably priced and unpretentious but quality and fitting for the concept.
Cozy atmosphere, warm candle lighting, low music volume so you can hold a conversation, relaxed and cheerful crowd... but the best part was the staff who were knowledgeable, welcoming, engaged, energetic and all struck the perfect balance of being relatable & familiar/chummy yet polite & professional.
I just wish I wrote down the name of the beaujolais that tasted like a...
