Dunelm — Local services in Great Britain

Good store layout. Dreadful restaurant. Gave out food with dairy no non dairy tolerant people because the menu did not state dairy contained. Very slow service queued for 30 minutes, one elderly lady queued so long she began to feel unwell. Food not kept refrigerated. Requested a refund. The so called staffless tills require a staff member to authorise your purchase. When questioned the staff member explained its because you have a dangerous object such as a knife! The only things we had were a cushion and a lampshade. When i finally tried to leave the alarm went off becuase a security tag had been missed. I was then stopped by a security guard who spoke very bad english and instantly accused me of stealing! By this point I had a sense of humour breakdown and walked back towards the checkout to get the tag removed. This is the point the security guard started shouting at me to stop. I enjoy shopping at Southend Dunelm store.I am a regular customer of Pausa Cafe which I visit about 5 times a week, mainly for breakfast. I know people mostly write reviews when they are unhappy about something. I will be positive. The Pausa Cafe at Dunelm, Southend On Sea provides value for money and a very good service on most days of the week. However I have noticed that the Cafe works most efficiently when Sam is on. She always greet her customers with a friendly smile whether they are new customers or regular customers. She is calm and well organised. She is on the go all the time, never stops. She keeps the Cafe spotless and still manage to train new staffs. Loyal, efficient and dedicated staff like Sam is key to the success of of Pausa Cafe and Dunelm Store Southend On Sea. The store itself is lovely and tidy however, I just wanted to say a big thank you to the Southend team. They are all so friendly from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave! My son dropped his croc somewhere in the store and the team were so friendly and helpful in helping me look for the little shoe one the day. They even offered to take my number incase it was found later. Thankfully it was found in the cafe (of course! 😅) and I went in to collect it!
