please read full review - this is not a fair score for hotel - I'd give that 4 (only loosing one due to car parking) however attached Brewers Fayre is give 0 to for evening meal (breakfast was better) * ||This is a large hotel with a complex weaving of corridors from one side down to the restaurant at the other (it took us a good 5mins to walk from our room to restaurant!) the advantage of this is rooms were spread out so it's actually probably one of the quietest premier inn's I've stayed in. Staff on check in were pleasant. Room was really clean and in good condition. Bed linen in particular smelt really clean which was lovely. Shower is decent, although personally I hate a shower curtain, but that is a minor detail. ||No parking at the hotel, however we got parked at palm court car park which is less than 5mins walk and cost £12 for 24 hours. (This is clearly a very busy car park due to hotel it is attached to and premier inn plus day trippers, there were spaces at 11am but they were becoming limited, and by 5pm there was a good choice of spaces - I'm not sure where plan b to park would have been) ||Attached brewers fayre really let everything that the hotel does down. ||Evening meal - took an hour to arrive despite it not being particularly busy - no apology for this at all. Children's starters arrived at same time as main course. Children had the same starters - one has a severe allergy - it's standard practice elsewhere for allergy meals to be labelled or bought separately, this did not happen. ||Most worrying of all however was the overall lack of knowledge on allergies. Staff eventually pulled out a raggy allergy file when asked for it - this information did not match the information on Brewers Fayre website. Staff had no knowledge of when the file was updated or if it had been - stated was up to parents to decide if they wanted to believe the file of online allergy information as the risk was theirs. We had to stack dirty plates from starts and mains to make space for deserts - dirty plates were only cleared after it was requested. ||Also would not accept voucher codes (notice on till to say not scanning) where this issue has occured elsewhere, including Brewers Fayre attached to different premier inn's the blue light codes have been put through manually. Clearly they just didn't want to do this, and the quality of food does not match the price on the menu at all. ||Due to self serve breakfast, issues were less significant then and staff on breakfast greet and seating had more understanding and knowledge of allergies thankfully. However tables were slow to be cleared and cleaned. ||||Overall I'd say hotel is great - I'd give this 4 (only loosing one due to car park as I've no idea what we'd have done if that one was full) ||The attached Brewers Fayre however needs to sort themselves out especially on allergy law and basic cleanliness and clearing of tables (staff stood around having chat on evening which made everything more infuriating, severe lack of basic customer service - two staff members even argued in front of us over which one of them was using a specific table as we arrived with another party) breakfast was decent, but tables need to be cleaned. Avoid eating...
Read moreOn arrival into the town we drove into the car park opposite the Brewers Fayre restaurant which is adjacent to the hotel is a short pay & display ,there is however a 24hr undercover carpark towards the side. This was our first visit so walked across the road trying to locate the hotel entrance. After walking up & down (in the rain) we spotted a sign on the wall arrowing to the entrance. This is a good 10min walk towards the town then left turn into a side street pedestrian only. The hotel entrance is to the left ,not the best of entrances (standing for a while looking for a Premier Inn logo) then through some grubby large blue doors the glass entrance with Premier Inn was spotted. On entry into the 'reception' area there was the most untidy, unfriendly looking staff member we asked if we could leave the cases,so we trampled back to the car.On return soaking,he labelled the luggage and locked it in the store & that was it !!!! No info provided....After an afternoon checking out the South Bay,we then returned to check in with a female who was somewhat friendlier. This hotel is like a maze !!!! The room was tidy, clean, carpet looked quite new did overlook other rooms so the curtains remained closed...bed linen was clean & decent towels, comfy bed,but duvet too heavy & hard pillows. Bathroom clean, although no smell sink could do with a good blast of boiling water & bleach down the plug hole ! Sufficient power points/mirrors but hairdryer of the old type, stayed in Premiers with better. Location is great for the town, 10mins walk to the Venicular tram,15mins upto the main high Street.Great variety of coffee shops within 5 mins walk selling lovely food. Unfortunately not open Sunday so we had breakfast in the Brewers Fayre, which was the average buffet. Just a note the rooms don't get cleaned until after checkout,we personally...
Read moreTerrible weekend stay at this hotel, very dirty, exisiting guests dirty pants in the room and poor service! Arrived just before teatime. 2 adults/2young children. Had 2 towels in room for a family if 4 and no toilet rolls. Asked reception to sort whilst we went out for tea. Came back in the evening ready for bed and realised the room hadn't actually been cleaned. Smears across the mirrors, dirt on carpet, just poor. The final straw for me was when I went into the bathroom and closed the door behind me (after putting my children to bed). I saw a used pair of mens underpants on the floor under the radiator. I was mortified, I went down to reception at 10pm and asked them to come and remove them. Not happy at all! They offered to swap me rooms the next day as they were full that night. We were on a 2 night stay, so I requested the room be fully cleaned the next day.
The bar manager here is rude, he refused to re-make me a vodka, lime and lemonade which didnt taste right. He told me it would taste the same if he made it again so refused to. Yes I got a refund, but i wanted a drink not a refund. I sat with my husband and kids while they finished their drink and we left. Breakfast was OK, if you didn't want a fried egg. The staff brought out a mini tray of 6-8 eggs to feed approx 50 people.
Outcome Yes, I recieved a credit for £49, the room cost for the 2 nights was £208. This is disgraceful! No-one in their right mind would pay a penny to stay in a dirty room!
I would also like to add that their complaints process is very poor, again not happy with their offer of £49, however when I advised this, apparently its the most they can do. I will most certainly be avoiding this particular hotel, and other Premier Inn...
