I had a deeply disappointing experience at Michael Spiers in Taunton that potential buyers should be aware of. In late January, I viewed several watches with Hannah, who assured me that all the watches I tried on were the latest models. Fast forward to 18th May, I called to make an appointment to purchase the Omega Speedster Moonwatch Professional Sapphire (310.30.42.50.01.002) that day. Thankfully, I did my research beforehand.

Upon arrival, I was shocked to find they were about to sell me an older version of the watch at an inflated price, akin to buying a pre-facelift car model at the new model’s price, ridiculous! When we pointed this out to Hannah, she went away and confirmed the watch we viewed in January and on the day we intended to purchase the watch was in fact not the latest model. This unacceptable error feels like a deliberate attempt to offload older stock onto unsuspecting customers (scam!).

To make matters worse, when we asked how the watch could be manually wound, the staff seemed clueless and had to get another employee, whose vague answer was far from helpful. After this extremely poor experience at a 'prestigious shop', we decided to leave the store and drive to Cardiff Omega instead (an additional 1hr 40min drive), where the service was exemplary and we purchased the correct watch the same day.

Michael Spiers needs to be more diligent and transparent with their stock to avoid misleading customers as I am confident I am not the first/last they will trick but thankfully the research paid off massively and I was not scammed into thinking I bought the latest watch and instead bought a before 2019 Speedmaster (which is when the updated model was released), at an inflated price.

I would honestly save yourself the hassle/worry and consider shopping elsewhere unless you want to run the risk of having an older watch at an inflated price.

FYI to those purchasing the 'new speedmaster' from Michael Spires; it should have the bracelet with the 'new folding clasp with an engraved logo', instead of the pin adjustable mechanism along with the 'calibre 3861 co-axial movement' as the two major tell-tale signs which provide better battery...

Fabulous service and support. My partner and I were looking for an engagement ring. I knew what I thought I wanted, but didn't know what I wanted, if that makes sense. So it felt quite daunting going into the store, but I need not have worried. We were greeted by Gemma who listened to me and showed me a number of different styles that I had mentioned. Eventually we norrowed it down until I found 'the one'. My chosen ring wasn't in my size in store and so had to be specially ordered. I have a half size finger like my feet!! Afterwards I had a few questions which Gemma answered via email kindly giving me all the technical information that I had not retained at the time in store. I was able to ask questions without feeling that I was being silly. I recieved the call that my ring was ready coincidentally on my birthday which was an extra excitement. My partner and I went to collect it on Saturday afternoon and I was presented with a really beautiful bouquet of flowers and some prosecco for my birthday and engagement, which was amazing! My ring is beautiful I'm totally in love with it. The quality of the diamonds and the workmanship are exquisite and I would not have found it without Gemmas help. I highly recommend Michael Spiers (Taunton) for engagement rings (and any other jewellery or watch purchase) we will certainly be returning for our wedding rings. A truly wonderful customer...
