During a recent visit to Hatchers in Taunton, I encountered a mixed shopping experience, prompting a fair 3-star review. Known for its variety and quality, I had high hopes for expanding my wardrobe with a new Barbour jacket from their reputed collection.
Upon entering, I was met with an atmosphere that felt unexpectedly hollow. The usually bustling aisles and vibrant displays were noticeably subdued, with an airiness that spoke more of absence than the welcoming retail environment I've come to expect.
The selection of Barbour jackets, a quintessentially British brand that I had specifically come for, was underwhelming. The range was limited, lacking in both the variety of styles and sizes I anticipated. For a brand that prides itself on offering a garment for every occasion, the choices on hand did not live up to the extensive catalogue I know Barbour holds.
That said, the quality of the jackets available was indisputable. Each piece echoed the durability and classic design that Barbour is celebrated for. It was the scarcity of options that left a lot to be desired and led to a feeling of disappointment.
The store staff, although polite, seemed to mirror the subdued tone of the store, efficient but lacking the spirited customer service that can often turn a day of mundane errands into a pleasant retail adventure.
In conclusion, while my affection for Hatchers remains due to past experiences, this particular visit did not stand up to the high standards I've come to associate with the store.
I hope to see a return to the vibrant and well-stocked department store environment that Hatchers has been known for. A more robust range and a livelier atmosphere would certainly help restore the full five stars in...
Read moreI popped in to the Cafe today, just walked 2 miles in to town to have my eyes tested, I was a bit early so thought I would have a coffee. As I was ordering I noticed the lovely looking fruit scones so I ordered one and I was asked if I wanted it heated with butter, so I said yes please. It hadn't been heated 2. as I tried to put the butter on the scone just crumbled !!! Had I not had only 10 minutes untill my appointment I would have complained. So I won't be going there again 😝😡 I should clarify that the price £7 plus was for the coffee...
