I don't normally add reviews unless I have been impressed or a bad service. Stepping into Chaknana is like embarking on a vibrant journey through the heart of Peru. The culinary experience at CHAKANA is nothing short of spectacular. The menu is a masterful representation of Peru's rich gastronomic heritage, showcasing a stunning array of dishes that celebrate the country's diverse ingredients and culinary techniques. The Ceviche is a revelation, with impeccably fresh fish marinated in a zesty citrus blend that sings with the perfect balance of acidity and spice. Each bite is a harmonious explosion of flavors, a testament to the chef’s skill and dedication to authenticity.
Chakanas attention to detail extends to its drink offerings as well. The Pisco Sour is an absolute must-try. This quintessential Peruvian cocktail is expertly crafted, with just the right frothy head and a delicate balance of pisco, lime, and syrup, finished with a dash of aromatic bitters. It’s a refreshing, invigorating complement to the vibrant flavors of the food.
The restaurant's décor is equally enchanting, The warm, attentive service further elevates the dining experience, making you feel like a cherished guest from the moment you walk in.

Read moreI booked a table for 7pm on Sunday, which was cancelled with no reason. I passed by the restaurant at 6.30 to query this and the place was empty, I was told I never made a reservation despite having emails to prove it, and then I was told I would not be served at 7pm as the restaurant would be closed anyway, despite its Google listing saying it's open until 9pm on Sundays. I noticed later on at 7pm two tables of customers had just sat down and were being served their starters. I'm not sure what this restaurant is playing at but they obviously don't want your business, so don't bother going.
EDIT: Confusion over the booking system aside, there is no excuse for telling me you can't seat me at 7pm because you'll be closing, kicking me out onto the street to have to find another place to eat because my plans to eat with you are cancelled, and then two tables walking in after me and getting seated and served. You need to reconsider how you're treating customers that want to give you money. If you don't want my money I will spend it elsewhere.
EDIT 2: Noticed the restaurant edited their reply to include a gigantic lie and claim I called the restaurant to try and move my booking later. That never happened, I never called. I was told in person at 7pm I wouldn't be seated. Now they're just straight up lying to try and explain away my complaint. It also doesn't make sense as if it was true I called up to try and move my booking in advance and was told no, there wouldn't have been any confusion over the booking system as it would've been solved on call. Wish they'd just take responsibility and hold their hands up instead of this...
Read moreMe and my friend were in the area as my friend was having dinner in one of the restaurants around broadway road. We went as a walk in. I didn’t know of the existence of Chakana and love pisco, automatically when I saw the restaurant caught my eyes. The colorful interior and the sound of southamerican and the hope for them to have pisco took me there.
We were served by Fernando, before having our order taken, we asked him for recommendations for a vegetarian bite. He kindly took the time to describe every vegetarian item on the menu. As well as to let us know that each traditional dish made with animals meat had a veg alternative. Loved it!
Was the time to ask for suggestions for piscos. He gave us an introduction of the restaurant, letting us know that Chakana stablished first in Birmingham and that has the restaurant with the biggest variety of pisco(not sure if in the uk or in Europe) and that this one was the second one.
On regards to pisco drinks, he mentioned a few, tho I went for the traditional sour and my friend went for the one “de la casa” that has a touch of passion fruit. Both absolutely delicious.
They offered us their house bread made with purple corn flour with a delicious sauce made with base of yoghurt made with leche de tigra and some other spices.
The vibe was absolute perfect, the service was perfect, the drinks were perfect! Will definitely come back to try some of their other dishes and drinks.
Thanks Fernando for your brilliant...
