Maybe I just went late that’s why my review is different but wanted to write because I was fooled by the other reviews on here.. I came around 10:30 pm on a Friday and have had fish and chips other places in London, I found this one was very overpriced for the quality, it’s about 15 pounds for fish and chips with no extras, other shops for that price typically include sauces or curry, there was no lemon or parsley either. The main problem though was the chips were cold and soggy and the fish was also not crispy and the cod itself was chewy/rubbery.. very disappointed. With mushy peas and a drink I spent about $30 US and for that price I think I could’ve gotten a decent steak in town! Shouldn’t be charging this for very mediocre fish and chips. I guess later at night you’re just catering to drunk people so maybe that’s why the reviews are so good or maybe the quality declines later in the night but try to improve this or reduce your prices/offer a combo deal please like...
Read moreAmended, to reply..... Sadly, when I ordered a sausage in batter, I was dishonesty sold a weird tasting HALAL beef sausage WITHOUT BEEN TOLD BEFOREHAND. If I go to a fish n chip shop in England and order a sausage I expect it to be pork. Like saveloy should also be, but no.... I was sold halal meat with no warning. I went bk and asked what it was and after finding out i asked why he didn't tell me? his answer was "lots of Europeans dont like pork, so Im forced to sell halal". I WALKED OUT AND THREW SAID ITEM IN THE BIN..... im sure his camera picked up on this. If you want ethical or real English food, Boycott. And judging by the nasty little reply, whuch has now been removed...I would most certainly boycott just for this foul mouthed owner! Long gone are the days of clean, honest, British owned fish n chips shop where people are polite, courteous n honest. Yuck behaviour and...
Read moreHaving worked at a fish and chip shop for 5 years’ I know what good fish and chips look like, and this isn’t it. But it has some potential.
Everything was anaemic. Some of the chips were a bit raw still and the fish batter was not fully cooked. It all needed another couple of minutes.
We ate some fresh and then walked only 10 mins down the road. The fish could have swam again by the time we got back, the batter was that soggy.
The batter was quite tasteless and needs both seasoning, and some acidity.
The fish and the chip ingredients looked good and the portion was good.
I’m sure the new owners are finding their feet, but it’s definitely not a 4.8 chippy yet despite the...
