The food was great: had the veggie ramen, vegan KFC and vegan poke bowl. All delicious and quick to serve. Service was nice too. But the "discretionary" service charge was added automatically to the bill when we were asked just to tap the reader, and we were not given an option to have it removed (or asked to add it in the first place). Felt a bit like I was in the USA. Perhaps ask the customer if they would like to cover the charge, or include it in your prices. Giving your customers the express option is always the best policy in my opinion. Just left a little bit of a sour taste in an otherwise pleasant experience.

TLDR; a better alternative to Koyako down the road but the food is generally too salty. The ingredients used were good for sure but everything was just a little too intense to be enjoyable. We had the chicken and pork ramen. Both were served with a thick broth, very similar to Bone Daddies in Soho. However a lot of the otherwise rich and subtle flavours were over powered by the saltiness. It was a similar story with the “Korean” Fried Chicken which was more akin to a Japanese karage than KFC. Too salty to taste anything else. It’s a small cozy restaurant and the staff were attentive so no star lost there.

Poor Service - Avoid This Place Went twice, same awful experience both times. They seat you at “reservation” tables without telling you upfront, then rush you to finish your food the moment it arrives. Asked if the table was reserved the second time - waitress said no, then did the exact same thing again. You can’t enjoy a meal when staff are hovering over you demanding you hurry up after you’ve already ordered and paid. There are non-reservation tables available - use them or tell customers upfront about time limits. Won’t be back. Plenty of other places that actually want your business. 1/5 stars

The only thing this place has nailed is a false sense of comfort and authenticity from the street, the rest leaves a lot to be desired.

On many an occasion had I cycled past and seen young couples at the window tentatively slurping on bowls of ramen showing no real signs of concern. But on stepping through the door, the real truth of the matter was soon exposed. The menu was extensive and definitely too ambitious to deliver unflawed leading to over-fried tempura and cold slabs of tofu. The toilets were grotty and didn't leave much optimism for the hygiene standards of the kitchen...

All of these factors would have probably led to me delivering a reluctant rating of three but the staff and their complete negligence to customer care jeopardized the situation further. At all stages of the meal it was down to the customer to instigate service as the staff squabbled with Uber drivers and seeming faffed about at the bar. Furthermore our party we told several items were unavailable from the menu only to see them bring delivered to other tables later on in our visit. It was frantic and unsettling and ultimately robbed the place of another star. I...

I ordered a takeaway Ramen from Okko and there was obviously a mix up. My Ramen was oily to the point of it being unpalatable. There were no greens or any veg for that matter. I had been served pork instead of the chicken I ordered and even that was such a measly portion it was done in two bites. Mistakes happen. I can accept that. However, when you fail to properly address those mistakes then I cannot and will not accept that. Okko's customer service is among the worst I've come across. My initial complaint to them via Facebook Messenger was met with concern... and then swiftly ignored. And then continually ignored. It's been well over a week and I'm still being ignored, despite my best efforts to get any kind of resolution out of this. I would love to say that Okko has amazing food. I'd love to say that they really love their customers. I'd love to say that when you're in the London Fields area you should go and visit Okko, but I can't. I had a bad meal and given the opportunity to make amends, they chose...

We've been local’s in the area for years now. We see so many restaurants come & go but it's nice to see this doing well, plus its nice to finally have a Japanese in Broadway Market.

We eat out so regularly and so often when we'd like to go for Japanese you get such basic, common boring food. They're usually like an independent yo sushi (without the conveyor belt!), it's refreshing to be served a slight variance on these. Its not Heston Blumenthal, snail porridge different! It's just well presented & tasty. The sashimi for example tasted really fresh and the naked gyoza are a great take on a classic idea. Even the Lychee cocktail was great, if a bit small.

Staff are pretty friendly & relaxed. It's small so we had to wait for a table but that’s just testament to how good the food is. Decor was simple, but looked a bit raw. I guess that’s in keeping with the area.

Will definitely be heading...
