I like the bread and the English muffins, which gladly are back on the shelves (two stars for that) but I make my purchase an in-and-out job! Interestingly, many of the few-star-ratings criticise the staff's attidude. There I was thinking it is just me because I am getting old...Today I asked for a bread without a paper bag as I brought a canvas bag with me. And to put that young lady at ease I said "perfectly clean , fresh from the laundry". She sneered " You must eat it - I don't care"! Well, what to say? It's always good to now that people don't care! A few weeks ago I was asking a staff if they had stopped making muffins, as they had not been around for quite a while - she didn't even know what an English muffin was, neither did her colleagues in that shift...Jesus, don't they teach them anything? I live in East London as long as the Pavilion exists, I was and in however reduced way still am a customer of the first hour. The young people they had hired back then were always extremely nice and funny! What changed? I resent that "pavilion management' tries to sell you own-brand-reusable (plastic!) coffee cups baiting you with a small discount, but if I bring my old faithful glass KeepCup (always spotlessly clean like my bread bags!) the 'discount' does not apply! How sad is that? The environment is not worth the occasional 10% off a flat white? In a way the Pavilion is a victim of its own success. Luckily, there is no shortage of coffee shops in this part of town - partial boycott is my grand gesture! Not that anyone...

Screaming hot coffee and it was also burnt. Two things a coffee needs to be - drinkable temperature and not burnt to bitterness. It was neither. Not that they care - they’re selling bread for a fiver a pop all day long to the smug morons of high end Hackney so they’ll carry on profiting while offering horrific fayre. It used to be good round here
EDIT: they didn’t even stir the sugar in so I had an unsweetened coffee with a hit of sickly sweet sludge to finish. If you insist on doing the sugar FOR me, do it right.
They also have a pushy tipping screen you have to press NO to before you can pay. Horrible vibe. Also, who’s tipping a quid when they’re already paying Hackney coffee prices? And anyway, A it’s only a coffee, not a restaurant or even a bar! B the service doesn’t warrant rewarding. C and most importantly, PAY YOUR STAFF A LIVING WAGE - don’t expect your customers to top their wages up for you. Maybe they’d be happier and friendlier to your customers...

If you are a dog owner, AVOID their dog biscuits. They used to be made from oat flour, banana and peanut butter. I bought a fresh bag for my dog today and was horrified to discover they have changed their formula and are now made from disgusting, seriously unhealthy fillers such as cereal, meat and vegetable DERIVATIVES which are the cheapest rubbish added to dog food, and sold in low-end chain stores, cheap supermarkets and petrol stations. Of course, at Pavilion, they are sold at INFLATED prices, packed in plastic, and are even more expensive than top quality biscuits made by ethical, independent dog brands.
UNETHICAL business practice. Rapid expansion by opening more and more stores in London, now in Cornwall...all at the expense of unsuspecting...
