I'm personally not a fan of Hatton Garden. I'd real reservations about visiting ten years ago while looking for my wife's engagement ring and wedding band. Having suffered several overly pressing borderline aggressive sales pitches in a number of shops, under the unwelcome gaze of over bearing males we happened upon Gems and Jaspreet. What a breath of professional and friendly air. What I wanted was to discuss the rings in detail, in and around my budget and not haggle with a salesperson who was simply after sales and profit. What I received from Jaspreet was time, experience, advice, ring options i.e. all that I had been searching for. And that is why we've continued to go back to have our rings polished by Gems and also why I entrusted them with something very personal. I wanted some very bespoke work undertaken for my wife's 40th birthday which required a considerable amount of work. Today I've collected that piece and short of the moment I will present it to my wife could not be happier. Dear reader I am sure there are cheaper options in Hatton Garden, larger shops with potentially wider variety, however if it is professionalism, knowledgeable, friendly, experienced staff then please believe me - although we've never met - when I say you really should save your valuable time and visit Gems. I cannot express how grateful I am to the team at Gems for the exceptional service they provided. I had visited several other stores in and around Hatton Garden and had a mixed experience to say the least. I wanted to craft a bespoke engagement ring for my (now) fiancé using stones from rings that had significant personal value to me. One jeweller told me the stones I had were worthless and they’d break when he’d removed them (because diamond is such a fragile material..) whilst most others tried to steer me towards pre-made rings. Gems was the exception. I initially spoke with Victoria who gave me a a thorough introduction to understanding diamonds and designs. I was then invited back to discuss my requirements in person with senior member of staff Jas. The atmosphere was a relaxed environment and the focus on service to me and my requirements, not on how much and how quickly they could take my money like so many others in area. Jas confirmed the stones I had were real diamond of an excellent clarity and would use them in my new ring. The design and manufacture of the ring was exquisite. James is fantastic! My fiance and I visited a number of jewellers before settling on Gems. The reason we went with Gems was because we were so impressed with James, he was really knowledgeable, professional, eager to get us what we wanted but wasn't pushy in the way that many jewellers in Hatton Garden are. We told him the style of mount and stone we wanted and gave our budget. We were quite precise in the mount style, and he managed to find exactly what we wanted, and a great range of beautiful stones in our budget. Nearly every other jeweller showed us stones well in excess of our budget and tried to push us spend more. Everytime we saw James, he was attentive, friendly and professional. We ended up getting our wedding rings there too as we felt we could trust James to get us good quality rings at a good price.
