Absolutely fantastic. We stayed three days at the One Tun and would absolutely stay again. We had the pleasure of staying in room 5 which had a wonderful private terrace. The room itself was decorated with bookshelf styled wallpaper, end tables, a quaint desk and double doors to the terrace all fitting the traditional English feel we were hoping for. The bathroom was clean and modern with a nice glass door shower. The bed itself was wonderfully decorated and very comfortable. There were plenty of outlets for charging and getting ready. A small mini fridge was also in the room with complimentary water and chocolate. There was also a small coffee maker and light Togo snacks. Our arrival was quite early so we took advantage of the option of leaving our luggage in the Pub and went out and about to explore. I feel bad for the poor man who carried our luggage up as we didn’t pack lightly ;) There is no lift so be prepared for stairs. The stairs up to our room were all carpeted and railings provided. The wallpaper and artwork throughout were of adorable animals in posh and preppy clothing. Check in was a breeze and we were shown how to work everything in our room as well as given plenty of info to keep us in the know for our stay. The location is very convenient to...
Read moreI booked the new back room for a retirement party for my colleague on 25 May. It was a lovely evening and the impeccable, attentive service from Nicola and George was very much appreciated! It is a lovely, fresh, snug space with a lush, thick curtain you can pull over for added privacy. With beautiful wooden high tables and comfortable chairs it is a great place for a gathering of 15 odd. I would highly recommend the sharing platters, totally delicious along with the Thai fries. Lovely selection of wines (the French rose is very nice) and beers and of course top shelf spirits. If you want to smoke you can hang outside with your drink, take your time and chat to the regulars. It is a very dog friendly place which is a perk for us animal lovers and check out the portraits on the walls! I had to book quite last minute and George was ever so helpful. There was no charge for the room or minimum spend (very unusual on busy nights!) and yet we were treated like royalty :-) Tucked away on Saffron Hill it is a real gem of a place, very close to Farringdon tube and overground stations. The actual pub itself is very roomy and fresh too. I am looking forward to going back soon. Thank you George and...
Read moreI have just had lunch at this pub after an absence of about 6 years and there used to be a fantastic Thai restaurant attached to this. I came in hoping to re-live old experiences. The place was deserted and it was a Friday lunch time, that should have been a clue. OMG, what an appalling disappointment. The menu was pan Asian now and I ordered 'the Korean mixed fried rice'. They were basically trying to do a Korean bibimpap. ( A very simple dish to put together) What was offered was ridiculous meal put together by someone who clearly does not know how to cook. It was a bowl of 'boiled rice' - jasmine - with some julienned carrot and 'cucumber' placed on top, with some pre cooked prawns from the supermarket and a bit of Kimchi and a fried egg on top practically inedible , I left most of it and told them I was really disappointed and why , they didn't disagree and were polite but did not offer any kind of refund. The total cost of my meal was just over £15 with a small draft diet coke. (terrible value for money for an almost inedible meal) avoid like the plague...
