Went here to get an engagement ring and it's a million miles different from walking into any of the shops on Hatton garden. I felt like a wildebeest walking into a lions den walking into some (but not all to be fair!) of the shops round there and I was easy prey for the predators:) It's totally different here, you sit down and have a proper chat about what you want, or in my case, get some advice as well because I didn't have a clue. The big thing is that the person who actually makes the ring will be talking to you and can give you all kinds of advice, show you loads of stones, mounts, whatever you want, and there's no hard sell making you feel under pressure. Having such a knowledgeable and patient person to talk to makes a huge difference, and means that I ended up with a ring that I really wanted, that I took part in making knowing full well what it would look like, and being confident in my choice. Having the time to view lots of different stones, see what they looked like when arranged together, inspecting them to see the flaws, and all doing this with a friendly and knowledgeable person who was actually trying to find out what you wanted, and/or advise you at the same time, without any pressure was wonderful considering the other options around. Clearly I can't recommend this place enough. And bizarrely my best mate went here for his engagement ring 20 years ago as well! They also offer after care service which I'll be using today as I made the ring too big, and they will also tighten up the clamps on the diamond for you every few years. I'm not sure why my user name hasn't come up for this review, I can assure you that I'm a real...

Having visited jewellers in towns where I live and work trying to find the perfect engagement ring I started to get really deflated. After visiting over 20 jewellers I decided to avoid these places due to the hugely inflated prices and lesser quality stones compared with direct to sellers or more recognised / renowned sellers (e.g. The Diamond Shop).
I actually went to The Diamond Shop with a custom design, for a natural sapphire engagement ring. They had plenty of choice and were willing to extend their search for a different colour, shape, or carat sapphire if I decided to go with a different stone than the stones they showed me.
Small deposit was paid (£100) and they made the ring to the date that I needed. They also made a little drawing of the ring design, side and front profile, in a frame. Although they did forget to do this a few times, in the end they sent to me by recorded delivery.
They offer a free re-sizing if the ring doesn't quite fit, which we're used twice to make sure the ring is perfect. During the re-size they noticed that the ring had a slight dent / scratch so repaired this without us...
Read moreI decided to purchase my wife an eternity ring to celebrate being together for 10 years. I booked a romantic weekend in London and part of the surprise a was a trip to Hatton Garden. As none of the shops had what we we looking for, we tried The Diamond Shop Ltd who said were able to assist us by making the ring from scratch.
After a total of 5 visits, we were given the opportunity to part with around £3000 for a tangled mess of metal which resembled an orthodontic brace suitable for sharks teeth rather than diamonds.
The claws were uneven, mounted in varying places on each of the 9 heart shaped diamonds and so large that they became the focal point of the ring.
To add to the disappointment, it became apparent that this was the first time the completed ring had been seen by the person we believed was making it.
All in all, they have ruined what should have been a wonderful experience and cost me hours of time given the 3 hour round trip we had to make for each visit!
What astounded us the most was that they handed us the ring believing that what they had made...
