UCL Student Centre — Local services in London

Great place to study when on campus, aesthetic, good capacity.

Disappointing that they can afford to build UCL East and apparently part 2 on the way too and renovate quad, but they cant afford functioning lifts (8 floor building), water fountains, regular toilet maintenance. Feels like a lot of these have been consistently out of service during term time over the last 3 years which is a shame. Today at 3pm - 3 toilets out of use on 3rd floor (regular toilet queueing occurs), 1 out of 3 lifts functioning, 2 water fountains functioning considering its 8 floors. No this is not just a bad day. At least 1 lift out of service is basically daily occurence. Some water fountains haven’t functioned all year. Queues for toilets every day on most floors. You can see people travelling between floors every day searching for free toilet or water fountain. And its packed, not many spare seats going each floor.

Capacity full to the brim but student enquiries is taking up half a floor and not usually making most of the space. Cafe has 2 microwaves at time of writing but a queue of 10+ people at peak lunch time during term, think I’ve seen upto 15.

Regular staff are very nice though, very helpful and try do their best almost always. Place has a ablution, prayer, meditation/quiet rooms which are used regularly by students and great additions. Unfortunately, I don't know his name, but I'm writing this review to give a shoutout to whoever was working front door security on 4th September a few minutes before close at 9pm--THANK YOU for not only letting two random American students in to see Jeremy Bentham right as you were starting to lock up, but also offering to take multiple pictures of us with him on both of our cameras! The best student centre there is! Great place to study, I also love the lockers and shower where I can go after gym or running practice at Regent Park. They're always clean and in working condition. Compliments for the security team, they always check ID to make sure only UCL students...
