I'm so sad to be writing such a negative review, but it's justified. I used my Family Fund break voucher on this hotel to take my daughter on a trip to London. She has ASD, chronic anxiety and complex mental health problems. I chose this hotel from many available to me based on the mostly positive reviews and proximity to Euston station. I emailed in advance to let them know about my daughter's health and to ask not to be put in the tiny, cramped twin room that I had read about. I didn't even get a reply! Sadly, the room we got was exactly as the bad review described. We spent 2 nights in unbearable heat with only fans moving the hot air around. The room was so tiny that personal space was impossible. My daughter's sensory problems were completely over-stimulated. One of the beds had a really bad dip in it although to be fair, the other was super comfortable. There was a random hole in the ceiling and stains on the carpet. The room decor was overall quite nice with a modern bathroom. However, using the shower was awful - the flooring is painful to stand on for any length of time and the shower head points only into the corner meaning you have to constantly hold it to actually be in the water stream. |Moving on to breakfast - I had a black hair on my plate and the milk must have been turning off as there were bits floating on the surface of my tea. The breakfast room is small and in general there was a very unwelcoming feeling when we arrived which was awful as I had to really convince my daughter to get the breakfast she was entitled to as part of her voucher. It was so awkward that we did not return for breakfast on our second morning. My daughter just felt very uncomfortable and as someone else pointed out, the staff just seemed lacklustre. There was no 'is everything ok for you?' or 'do you need anything else?' (except when they wanted to start clearing the continental items very promptly). There was certainly no friendly small talk. The cooked breakfast was average, egg was nice and good thick bacon but the beans were barely warm in the ramekin and of course there was the lovely hair I hadn't ordered. I would have loved some extra toast but didn't feel comfortable asking.|Checkout consisted of 'thank you' when I handed over the keys. No 'was your stay pleasant' or 'was everything ok?'. Probably because they knew we had been nearly boiled alive for 2 days in a sauna. We were literally covered in sweat the whole time we were there :(|I'm just so sad and disappointed because I wanted my daughter to have as good a trip as possible and I spent so long looking at hotels thinking I'd picked a good one for our needs. I appreciate that it is August and the weather was warm during our stay but the price of this hotel does not justify having no air con. My daughter is now delighted to be home after what ended up just being a trip to be endured, stuck in a tiny, stifling box room with an uncomfy bed. The one good thing about the hotel is the location, it's close to Euston and very central but visitors please note, Firzrovia has a LOT of homeless people and there are tents everywhere, something we didn't expect. Not the hotel's fault obviously, just something to note. I didn't approach staff during our stay because it would have upset my daughter, she didn't want a fuss. I had emailed in advance and got no reply so clearly they weren't going to accommodate my request...
Read moreThis hotel and booking are in favour of scammers and they do nothing about it. I got scammed out of money thanks to these two, first the hotel sent a vague message where at the very end there was some mention than they do not normally request the per-authorization of your card BUT mind you this part is at the very bottom of their message on the part that the booking app hides under the read more feature. (Logic would think that a serious hotel would put this first not at the very bottom, after a whole lot of standard useless information). ||Then the hotel gets its profile hacked and all your details (booking and all) stolen. The now “fake” hotel contacts you on booking, which you ignore but then they also contact you on the phone via Whats App (as some businesses nowadays do) , with all the right information (everything does match up) and you get scammed out of A LOT of money (thanks to a link that looks legit and looks like booking ). You try to get in touch with the hotel but they do not bother to reply giving the scammers free rein, so beware that’s the hotel you’ll be booking with. I do not recommend it since they are so lax in their security that get all your information hacked and don’t bother to own up to it. Disgusting! (Booking.com...
Read moreStayed here with my son for a midweek mini break. The location and price were ideal for what we needed.
The twin room was small but really well appointed and set up to be extremely usable. The bathroom and bedroom both had good storage spaces to hang and place items, and we weren't tripping over our stuff at all despite it being small. The beds were very comfy, if a little short - I'm only 5'6 and my feet reached the very end to slightly overhang when I was lying down, so definitely not for anyone tall.
I worried the road noise would keep us awake but it was totally fine with the inner and outer windows both closed. The ceiling fan kept us perfectly cool all night and I think the white noise of the fan drowned out any very loud traffic eg sirens from nearby UCL hospital.
Breakfast was INCREDIBLE with tonnes of choice including smoked salmon, cold meats, bread and pastries plus all the usual continental and cooked options. Coffee was too hot and very burnt, but that is the only thing I could fault.
Reception was friendly and helpful - ignore the comment from the person who complained about this.
Overall a really great stay - it's not top luxury but who can afford that in London? And, the room is small but has everything you need.
