We were seated at a table that was so close to the tables next to it that ours had to be moved against one side to let us squeeze between ours and the other side to sit. This isn't a high-demand one-of-a kind restaurant, but part of a chain with over 180 locations through the UK. We ordered drinks, salads and our main course. The main course arrived first followed my our salads and then our alcoholic beverage drinks all within a minute, essentially at the same time but the server couldn't serve more than two at a time. I ordered "Traditional Lasagne," and the other party ordered a chicken breast withmushrooms. In the delivery methodology and the food taste as well, my being from the US could have affected my review as I may have perceived deficiencies which are the result of differences in dining customs. I would have expected our alcoholic drinks to arrive first, followed by the salad and then the main course. As previously stated, they all arrived at the same time. Regarding the food quality, there were several concerns: my mixed salad had several pieces of greens that had brown places which should have been removed. The "traditional lasagne" tasted like moussaka, not lasagne. Though there was no Aubergine (eggplant) mixed with the ground meat, the overwhelming allspice flavor without oregano, garlic or onion left me to think of moussaka instead of lasagne. Additionally, it was not a nice layered mix of meat, pasta, ricotta, sauce, (repeat) but a soupy mixture with a toping like cheese sauce rather than a stringy mozzarella. As I said, perhaps what I expected should not have been expected. The chicken in the mushroom dish had been beaten to a thin piece and then overcooked so it no longer resembled real chicken breast, but the stuff McNuggets are made of. The mushroom sauce was watery but there were an abundance of mushrooms so that, if you got a mushroom in each taste, it had a mushroom flavor. What we ordered dessert, we selected the Raspberry Sorbet. My dining partner received theirs and in about five minutes, when the server returned and noticed I had not received mind, she returned to the bar (yes, sorbet is a bar item) and requested an additional one. It was served in a parfait cup that was hot to the touch, which allowed me to easily catch up since it was melting as fast as I could eat. Hence, the...
Read moreWe had the unfortunate experience of visiting the aforementioned Prezzo.
As soon as we sat down, the waiter appeared to have an odd attitude and I merely asked if it was possible if our 2 year could have his food come out first. The waiter shrugged and said it gets cooked when it gets cooked!
We then asked for a jug of water and he appeared with 2 small glasses of water. We ordered and when the food arrived he simply placed the food on the table with no conversation, not asking us if we needed anything or any drinks.
This rude individual then decided to just hang out with his colleagues and they all just sat around having a social between themselves!
At no point in the meal did anyone ask us if we needed anything or how the meal was.
We had to essentially shout across to get their attention so we could ask for a dessert for our toddler. The person who came across was advised that the service was awful and we would not be paying any service charge. His attitude was unbelievable – he claimed he was the manager and that a service charge wasn’t added to the bill rather than ask what the issue was or even apologise. This apparent manager had an extremely bad attitude and couldn’t care less.
The waiter and this manager then sat around talking in a foreign language which made us even more comfortable.
The complete lack of service completely ruined our meal and the atmosphere felt awful. Not what you expect when going out for meal. This must be the worse experience ever.
We immediately complained to the CEO email but surprise, surprise no response despite the email being delivered. Prezzo obviously have no regard to...
Read morePopped in here after train delays as hungry, we're fans of Prezzo never had a bad experience until now.. seated quickly, everything (inc toilets) very clean. Quick and polite service throughout impressive considering full restaurant and turnover (many people catching trains etc I guess). Now the food... I understand the holding company had closed many sites (inc our local) but seems as if they are cutting back on the quality of food? it was poor... very poor. Calamari was more crispy than content, mains salmon tasted like it was fresh out of a tin and the veg was not the greatest., the sea bass tasted old and was chewy, the tomato sauce with seabass was sharp and vinegary to the point it was inedible so left it. Then the bill... crikey... even allowing for the position of the restaurant wow.. yes we had a bottle of white wine, two starters, two mains (mostly left) and I know it all priced up before ordering but we were shocked... £100.54!!! This is Prezzo not Cote Brasserie (excellent food btw)... its a pizza / pasta joint. I know the holding company has it tough but closing sites, dumbing down the food, pushing prices up??? nah... you are just alienating loyal customers. No, I didn't complain (typically British) as the waiting staff worked so incredibly hard and consciously is wouldn't be fair, we just won't go back again here or maybe any site... sorry. Sad state...
