Euston Tap, 8.5/10
Just outside Euston Station. Tiny little gaff. Fancy looking. Looks like a Roman shoebox. But as they say, never judge a shoebox by its box. Judge it by the shoes. And the shoes in this case are those German beauties you see before you.
Would've been great in the sun. Big ol outside area. Instead, we got to experience it on a standard British summer’s evening. Wasn’t too bad to be honest. Just a bit of rain. The odd hailstone. 70mph gusts of wind. -10°C. Lost all my toes to the cold. And my fingers. Currently typing this with my nose. A fairly warm UK evening, all in all.
Let’s talk about Georg Schneider. One of the greatest men to ever walk the planet. The Undaunted. The Persistent. The Conductor. What a man. Blessed us with Schneider Weisse. If you haven’t tried it before. Go get some. Now. Right now. Or I’ll get my boy Georg on you. He’s not dead. He drank too much Schneider and became immortal. Watch your backs.
Towards the end I was falsely accused of having attempted to nick those beautiful glasses. How incredibly presumptuous. I was merely admiring them. Really intimately. In my jacket pockets. That’s just how I admire pint glasses alright. It’s not weird.
I also slid one down the back of my jeans. Just to admire it. Not to steal it. Promise. Only problem was I forgot to take it out and sat on it once I'd got home. Now my bum looks like the Japanese flag. Scheiße.

Read moreConveniently located outside Euston mainline and Underground stations. Has a good, frequently rotating range of keg and cask craft and real ales, as well as bottles and cans. Cider is available directly opposite on the other side of the road in the cider tap (left hand building if coming out of the station). The beer has always been served to a very good standard in my experience.
The charm of this place can often be it's weak point; it's in a converted gate house which means it has a limited floor space leading to people spilling out onto the pavement or the small beer garden. It's not such a problem most of the time, but at busy periods it really does get noticeably busy. The lavatories are equally condensed which leads to obvious queues. Par for the course I'd say.
The building itself is the last remnant of the glory days of Euston station as most of it has been erased or 'modernised'. Well worth a nosey at the destination engravings on the outer walls, some interesting if not dubious claims.
Overall a good place to grab a few decent beers before heading off to Euston or Euston Square, alternatively as a stop on a pub crawl if going towards King's Cross...
Read moreInteresting pub just a minute outside of Euston train station. Great way of killing an hour or two waiting for your train. It has a very quirky setup. The bar is tiny but there are spiral stairs leading up to a seating area that is surprisingly quiet. Most however hang around just outside the pub enjoying the outside air. They have a good range of craft beers that comes out of mysterious but cool taps at the back of the bar.
Beers are of a higher quality so can be a little expensive but certainly good value. So if you are into non main stream beers, this is a good place to be.
Interestingly there are two sides to the pub split by a busy bus Lane.. Each selling different beers. So worth changing sides, just be careful!
Toilets are available but you do have to negotiate those spiral stairs...
