Victoria Station Victoria Station, London SW1E 5ND

Tel. No.

Victoria Station is unique in the sense that it has train, underground and bus service available.

From Victoria Station you can go to the south coast and get to Brighton, Eastbourne, Worthing, Hastings and others. You can also go to the north.

The bus service will take you to Brighton and also right up to the north.

Victoria station, also known as London Victoria, is a central London railway terminus and connected London Underground station in Victoria, in the City of Westminster, managed by Network Rail.

Victoria Station was built in 1860-2 by the Victoria Station and Pimlico Railway Company and half the capital for this was subscribed by the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway, with the London, Chatham and Dover Railway subscribing 1/3rd and the Great Western Railway 1/6th.

Victoria is two stations in one, telling the story of intense rivalry between railway companies in the 19th century. Located in the heart of London's west end and offering speedy connections to seaside resorts, sea ports and Gatwick airport, Victoria Station has always been associated with train travel for pleasure.

What can I say, it's a train station. It's old, generally clean but a bit tired in places. Enough food and drink for short stays between trains. Toilets are free which is a bonus. All in all not bad but not as modern or well appointed as some London main stations. My only real complaint is that, although departure times are shown on the departures board well in advance, platform numbers aren't shown until a few minutes before departure. I guess this is designed to manage footfall on the platforms but it does lead to standing around and then a mass rush of people scrambling for seats in the last few minutes...

Well just as same as any busy train station, staff are stressed so don't expect the any politeness from them. Well it's not the station's fault Southern railway's have delays always. There do have shops like Whsmith, Boots, M&S, Wasabi for some quick grab like mochi my favourite, and escalators near Platform 15-19 leads to upstairs where lies the domain of KFC Vs McDonald's and some other small companies... They do have public toilets near Wasbi, I've never used them so don't know whether you have to...
