I went to the market on Saturday just gone (September 2nd 2023).
I wanted to get a hot roll as I was very hungry, there was a grill on the corner just before you enter the market. It was unusual beacuse there was no price board up and nothing telling you what they were serving. I was very hungry and so thought I would just order, ordered a bacon and egg roll.
I got two bits of cremated bacon, a nice egg but the lady who served me had long dirty fingernails which she used to crack egg. A real dirty unmaintained egg ring cooker with very dirty looking griddle and bars which they kept using blue roll to clean continously.
The cost for this roll was £6.20! Which I found to be unbelievable but I paid and had the roll which was average at best, no butter on the roll but free ketchup which was something. The lady had put the egg in the roll so that as she closed the roll and handed it to me the egg burst out the side and went mostly all over the serviette that I was handed the roll in.
The stalls and other produce on display were great, loads of wasps and insects all over the sweet stuff but there isn't much to be done about that this time of year.
Lovely cookies and black garlic which I bought some of each, but the food stall/grill really left me feeling dissapointed and...
Read moreThe Stroud Farmers' Market is a lively event that happens every Saturday morning. It has a wide range of delicious, locally grown foods that are a feast for the senses. The market is the centre of the community because it's where small-scale farmers and producers can sell their goods and keep money moving in the community. As a family-friendly place to have fun, it also hosts free tastings and events like Children's Day. For people who love to cook, the market is a never-ending source of ideas, with ingredients that have changed the way I cook at home. People from all over the area come together to celebrate the market, which shows how strong a community can be.
Whether you live in Stroud or are just visiting, a Saturday morning at the market is sure to leave you with a full basket and a...
Read moreVisited in early January, most of the stalls are lovely, super friendly and helpful offering great quality of fresh produce. However, we stumbled across a pet stall and were so excited to get our puppy a treat only to be completely ripped off. We were charged £14.99 for something we’ve found online for £3.50 when we went to buy again. He totally took advantage of us as we asked him what he would recommend. I understand adding mark up to make some profit but this is an absolute joke. Please keep an eye out and don’t be conned like we were by the man who owns the stall. Go to a pet shop instead. Such a shame his stall dampened...
