We arranged with Jamie and Steph to hold our daughter’s 21st birthday party in the pub without closing it to the public and it was utterly PERFECT! They helped with the decorations before we even arrived and there was a buzzy atmosphere from 5pm onwards as our guests were coming and going, slowly increasing in number as the night wore on. Keeping the pub open really helped this. Jamie organised a great DJ to kick off the dancing at about 8pm. We went for a massive chilli with all the trimmings followed later on by charcuterie boards, and really fun, helpful staff brought out the cake, organised plates etc, and organised and served the birthday toast. I didn’t have to lift a finger! All was cleared away and any leftovers handed to me in tubs when we left at midnight. We went for a bar tab (we stamped our guests wrists!) on all drinks except spirits and cocktails which the bar staff managed really carefully, checking with us regularly on the running total. I honestly do not have anything but huge praise for the whole team - they all went above and beyond! We’re having our work’s Xmas do there too it was such a success!! Thank you...

Sorry but I'm still spitting feathers 🤣 Here at the Retreat it was done to perfection with crispy croutons that didn't threaten to break teeth. The venue is nicely presented, clean, nice staff with a...
Read moreDelicious lunch accompanied by a well recommended red, from a small though well curated list. Staff are very welcoming and know their stuff. Love the location just off the High Street so quiet but with just the right ambience. The photographic exhibition added a further artistic element which was much appreciated. Any restaurant supporting local artists is always a welcome addition. Local ales on tap and an eclectic range of cocktails, spirits and bottled beverages...if you're in Stroud, well...
