We had a quick tasty lunch here on Saturday when we went up to Stroud to visit the popular market
Falafel Mama is located just down a side street from the main market area.
We ordered - Classic Falafel in a pitta - which was six falafel balls, hummus, salads and tahini - also you get a choice of spicy sauce.
And a Falafel Salad box which consisted of the same with more salad and no pitta.
Falafels were perfect - right amount of outside crunch and a good soft texture inside. We felt the portion size represented good value for money, with many places now charging over £10 for similar lunch fare. Our total came to £17.70.
We sat outside, though there was plenty of seats inside (upstairs).
Service was quick and only a few minutes after ordering we were tucking in to tasty falafel.
There was also a great range of other menu items which were reasonably priced too. If we hadn't had pata de nata from the market earlier we'd have definitely shared some Fries.
Worthy of 5 stars, and well worth a visit,...
Read moreI truly can't fault the food. However, I experienced a frustrating wait of 40 minutes for my order of a falafel salad and a tub of falafels. Given that the items are already prepared, I found it puzzling why it took so long. While I understand the shop was busy, a heads-up about the longer wait time would have been appreciated.
This is the second time I’ve encountered a wait of over half an hour, and it’s becoming a concern for me. It would be great if the ordering system could be adjusted to improve efficiency, as waiting isn't feasible for everyone.
Additionally, the wooden fork I received broke while I was eating, which was disappointing and affected my overall experience. I hope these issues can be addressed, as I'd love to return and enjoy the food without the...
Read moreJust keeps getting better! I keep thinking that Falafel Mama will do a FatToni and rest on their laurels and downgrade their offering to increase margins or create a system to replicate or franchise. That's not happened yet! It seems to me that they are just looking to improve what was already fantastic. The falafel balls are moist and delicious, the salads are lovingly prepared. It all goes down without that dry-in-the-mouth experience that needs a swig of something to get down that is so common with falafel. We're so blessed to have such great food places in Stroud. There's only a down side if you are committed to...
