Salsa Mex Mex Grill — Restaurant in Aiken County

This place is normally really good. However, tonight we had a 20 minute wait to even order. One server did not speak English, so after 15 minutes I asked her in Spanish if I could order. She was surprised, but told me no and to hold on. She went and told the only other server on the floor I asked to order. That server made a face, shook her head and went to the kitchen. Another waitress was coming on shift and was still tying on apron, so the first server told her we needed to order. She came around about five minutes after that for more than a 20 minute wait to order. I told the server, I did not see plain cheese enchiladas as an option, would that be possible. She said sure it was. What I was brought was not cheese enchiladas. It was a plate of cheese roll ups. No enchilada sauce, no flavor, nada. Just bland cheese and tortilla. I had to ask for enchilada sauce. She brought me a bowl, but rolled her eyes and made it clear I was being difficult. This is the worst Mexican restaurant I’ve ever been to. Ordered margaritas and there was ZERO alcohol in them, no Tajín around the rim as described on the menu. I never complain at restaurants as someone who has worked in the food service industry before and I always tip well. We sent the margaritas back and the server was going to re-make them. He said the manager made them so we asked to speak to him. He never came to the table. There was not a bartender there but anyone who works there should be able to make a margarita, especially at a Mexican restaurant! The server said he would bring new ones, never did. When asked about it again 15 minutes later, he said “Oh, my manager said I can’t serve you alcohol.” Huh? Why? No explanation given and he walked away. TERRIBLE SERVICE. The food was less than mediocre and the mishap with the margaritas was just inexcusable. I would give zero stars if that...

We had a larger group so service was very good considering.

Mixed drinks were horrible. The mojito I ordered had no mint and no soda water. It tasted like a flat & syrupy. I could not drink. 2 ladies joined our party later and without knowing I’d sent mine back- sent back their top shelf margaritas as undrinkable. All to say- stick with beer if you want a drink … or tequila straight!

The dips are overpriced - $6.99 for a small portion. Queso was good- guac was mediocre. I did the combo - ordered taco with beef and mushroom quesadilla. Shrimp came on quesadilla but I didn’t feel like returning (there was an upcharge for shrimp). Rice was not warm- more room temp leaning to cool. I thought food was okay. Nothing amazing.

Server was very nice and understanding and worked hard….but people don’t come back for good service - they also need good food. Adiós! No voy a regresar a esta...
