If you want to have a wonderful experience finding a beautiful dress, come here!
I consider myself to be a pretty thrifty person, and in an effort to save money on my wedding expenses, I ordered my wedding dress online. MISTAKE. My dress came in and it was HIDEOUS. It was cheaply made and, despite the fact that I sent in my measurements, it didn't fit. I was FREAKING OUT because my wedding is 2.5 months away!
My fiancee called around to different bridal shops in town to try and set me up with an emergency appointment to find a new dress. One of the more reputable ones said that they book 2 weeks out for consultations and that it takes 6-9 months to get the dress. I thought for sure I was royally screwed. Fortunately, he was able to reach Jason, one of the owners at Anne Matthews Bridal! Jason told my fiancee to send me in. He said they had some options that could be available in time for the wedding and he was able to get me in for a consultation THAT DAY.
My bridesmaids, mother, and I arrived at Anne Matthews and I was feeling very nervous that I wasn't going to be able to find anything. Much to my relief, one of the owners greeted us and began asking all of the right questions -- what is your situation? what is the timeline? do you have a picture of the dress you originally wanted? ( I was actually impressed that he asked this). And then, like sweet, sweet music to my ears he told me that everything was going to be ok, they have several options available that will be ready for me in time for the wedding, and that he would make sure that I found a dress I absolutely loved.
From there, the other owner, Stephanie (who is Jason's sister), took us back into the bridal room to try on dresses. Stephanie paid close attention to what I was looking for and was even able to pull up examples online of things that I might like, and they were SPOT ON. All of the samples that she pulled for my to try on were beautiful -- I loved every one of them. And let me tell you, it goes a long way to feel like you are sorting through a bunch of dresses that you love to pick the best one, rather than picking the one you can tolerate the most out of a bunch you're not really into.
Trying the dresses on was also a wonderful experience. Stephanie and Jason made it SO fun. They are both really fun people and we had a blast hanging out with them. They were also extremely patient with us, despite the fact that we were there late in the afternoon and trying out lots of options, which takes time. They never made us feel rushed and I never felt like my options were limited by either time or finances.
In the end, I found the PERFECT dress that we all loved and I was SO happy. Stephanie and Jason brought out a bottle of champagne for a toast after the dress was officially chosen and all of the girls signed the cork for and Jason dated it for me to mark this special occasion. Jason even gave us an extra bottle of champagne for my fiancee, to thank him for referring me to them. HOW FREAKING AMAZING IS THAT??
And if you think this was just a singular experience, you'd be wrong. When we first arrived, before we had even met Stephanie or Jason, there was another group there picking up a dress and they told us that they had been in a similar situation -- only the bride only had 2 WEEKS before the wedding to get a dress -- and that Stephanie and Jason took amazing care of them and they even bought the first dress they pulled out for them because it was so perfect.
So, if you need a dress, GO HERE. Just do it. You deserve to feel special on this occasion, and Stephanie and Jason will make you feel like a princess.
UPDATE: My sister booked her fitting here all these years later because she remembered what a good experience I had. Shelly helped her to fins the perfect dress! Ann Matthews is now...
Read moreAwful experience. This was the first time I had tried dresses on and it was very discouraging. I want to start off by saying the new girl who was training was awesome, it was the main consultant Rachel who was not. I was asked to email pictures ahead of time from both google search and their website that I liked. When I and my party arrived we waited about 10 minutes before they took us back where they began asking questions about budget and style. I was then told the pictures I sent were a few hundred over my budget. I then waited another 15 minutes give or take for her to pull 3 dresses none of which in the style I wanted. When trying the dresses on and walking out for my guest's to see I was asked what I didn't and did like and then rushed right back to the fitting room. I was then asked if I wanted to try on a dress that was $600-700 over my budget which was interesting given I wasn't aloud to try the styles I sent as they were a "few hundred" over my budget. I was continuously asked if I wanted to try different dresses that had aspects that I already stated I did not like. There was a dress that was nice and when asked what I didn't like I couldn't answer other than It just doesn't feel like a wedding dress it almost felt as though she was irritated and just kept saying "ok". There was one dress I liked the most out of all of them (still not the dress I wanted) and they put a vail on me and next thing I knew there was about 6 or so consultants around me giving input and still showing me pictures of other dresses asking if I wanted to try those instead. After getting dressed and about to leave I was told the dress I liked the most was being discontinued and I need to give them an answer by the end of the week. We also "played a game" where they called my fiancé at the beginning of the consult and asked him 5 questions and each questions that was Matched was $25 off They only asked me one question the whole time and at the then said they would take $125 off for the questions game we played. To top all of this off you are NOT allowed to take any pictures do to "copyright" which does not make since as they have all the dresses on line for people to view and save and it gives you know way of looking back at what you liked for...
