I contacted MARK PUSTAY for assistance with my child support case in NM. During our initial conversation, he displayed kindness and professionalism, leading me to decide to hire him for his services. Throughout the course of our seven-month working relationship, I had numerous questions regarding important matters, some of which I did not find addressed in his communications or documents. When I inquired about these concerns, he reassured me that the necessary information was incorporated within the forms and that there was no need for me to worry. As time progressed, my ex-wife's attorney requested several documents while Mark requested that I gather them, despite my suggestion of obtaining the documents from the opposing party. He explained that this was a standard procedure. In the end, I managed to provide all the requested documents, although we received only a few from the opposing party. Obtaining these documents was a laborious process that spanned weeks, as I had to gather ten years' worth of records. One crucial aspect of my case was the inclusion of my ex-wife's husband's income, which I repeatedly asked Mark about. Just weeks prior to the court date, he informed me that utilizing her husband's income was not possible. This request was paramount and had been discussed extensively during our initial meeting and subsequent communications. Mark's responses to these inquiries were never definitive. Reflecting on this situation, I now comprehend why he was unable to fulfill my request. His billing practices were also problematic, charging for every conversation we had, even after I requested the termination of our contract due to my dissatisfaction. Despite my explicit communication regarding my intention to discontinue working with him, he persisted in assuring me that everything would be fine. Eventually, he terminated our contract when I failed to make the last payment, even though I explicitly informed him that I did not wish to continue our working relationship. It is evident to me that Mark acted dishonestly, maintaining a display of deceit over the course of several months. Moreover, his sudden disinterest and lack of support leading up to the court date significantly impacted the outcome of my case, resulting in substantial losses on my part. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend NMLG to others. If choosing to engage their services, it is imperative to clearly communicate your needs and desires while ensuring that everything is documented to avoid any potential changes throughout the case. I now find myself compelled to attend court proceedings over a trivial sum, all while being deeply unsettled by the manner in which I was taken advantage of by my attorney, a classic example of dishonest legal...
Read moreI hired this law firm for my divorce. I was assigned Mark Pustay. Mark was not prepared for my interim support hearing. The central crux was my income. When I met with him in person the day before the hearing he was not listening and wanting to throw in the towel and not fight for a fair outcome. He advised me to take the agreement because it would save me in lawyer fees. This seemed odd as he had charged me a lot for the "work" that was done for preparation.
On the day of the hearing, the apposing side proposed a settlement that was way beyond my capability to meet. I told Mark that it was going to be a big hardship and could not do this. He strongly encouraged me to take the agreement because he felt this was the best I was going to get. (Going back to actually looking at my financials, which wasn't really done). He said the judge would not want to hear the argument for my side of things and I should take the deal. So I took the deal on his ill advise, which was not the right decision.
I reached out to David Crum the managing attorney. You know the guy who sends you all the e-mails welcoming you to the firm, promising to take good care of you and to reach out with any problems? Well he's basically a rich ghost. I asked to be assigned to another attorney because I was not happy with Mark's performance. They said they do not re-assign within the firm. David assigned another manager to review, who basically said they back Mark, which was to be expected. I discharged this firm and hired another firm.
When I saw the new attorneys performance compared to Mark, I knew I had been really had by New Mexico Legal group. I can not recommend Mark Pustay based on my experience.
As for New Mexico Legal group: They should learn you can shear a sheep multiple times, but you can only skin a sheep once. Get the picture?
For the record, I paid all of my bills with them on time and in full. By comparison to the other attorney (certified in family law), they overcharged. They under-delivered and were not transparent about Mark's lack...
