Okay so we ended up here because amazingly there is a lack of breakfast places in ABQ offering vegan options. I did take out from here once before years ago, I got a half a sandwich and it was good, but the place looked rough as did the people working. Anyways this place kept popping up in our search to find a place to have breakfast and had good looking pictures and good reviews from other vegans. So we gave in and decided to try it. I did warn my boyfriend about the roughness of the place and people before we got there. We sat outside because you can't hear yourself think inside, it's so tiny and loud. Our waitress was reassuring because she was friendly and seemed more "normal." We ordered two breakfast taco plates with tofu, a side of black beans and side of slaw because other people's pictures of that looked good. When we got our food it looked as we were expecting. It wasn't horrible, ill say it was mediocre. The corn tortillas were too greasy, my avocado was brown, I just pushed it off to the side. The hash browns had good flavor, the tofu was fine as was the green chili. I only ate one taco and picked at the ingredients through the rest of the plate. The black beans were bland. My boyfriend said it was good but not as good as the other reviews made it out to be. And the main lady behind the counter, maybe an owner, seemed to have an attitude. The slaw was okay and red Chili wasn't bad. Overall we won't be back again, we will wait till 11:00 am for other better places to open. The other vegan people out there giving those great reviews must...
Read moreWere it not for the pilot episode of Better Call Saul (S1E1), I never would have known about Lush. But since I am a filming location enthusiast, I had to find what I saw in that fun scene. A quick look at their online menu meant that I wasn’t just going to stop by for some exterior photos. No, I was going in, and I have now been here four times.
I give high praise to Lush for feeding everyone without judgment, meaning omnivore and plant-based alike can enjoy a great meal here. As per usual, I go with the Tofu Scramble sans eggs or dairy, admittedly a pretty basic dish, but one that Lush creates with panache. My friend ordered his usual Breakfast Plate, which includes two eggs, breakfast potatoes, and his choice of bacon.
We were there on a Saturday morning, meaning the brunch menu was in place. Essentially, the plated items are the same, and one beverage is included in the price. Normally, Lush is filled on Saturday mornings, but the outdoor ABQ Market was going on nearby, and that’s where everyone was. Parking can be tough at times, but we lucked out with a spot directly behind the cafe (note that you enter this small lot by literally driving over the all-access ramped sidewalk).
Lush continues to be one of my favorite ABQ breakfast haunts, and I...
Read moreExcited to try a new place that possibly offered something my grandson would be able to eat due to severe allergies. However, this was not the case! The staff was extremely rude and treated us as if we were a burden because we had two children with us. When we arrived later, on a Saturday morning, several tables were available inside, and we were not asked to wait to be seated. Our party consisted of four adults and two children. We were immediately seated however, we waited for quite some time to receive any service at all. When we were waited on the waitress was extremely rude, especially when we asked if they had a kids menu. When we began to ask about certain preparation of foods due to my grandson’s allergies, the waitress rolled her eyes again making us feel like we were a problem. I see where the owner responded to a previous post, blaming it on us for not making reservations. But us not making reservations did not constitute the rude and disgusting behavior we received at this restaurant! I will never recommend this establishment to any friends or family in Albuquerque! One star for service is being very generous. I do appreciate the apology we did receive on the way out from one of the...
