I caution every new potential tenant that would like to live here and is falsely mesmerized by the illusion of living in "luxury lofts" in downtown Albuquerque. Where do I begin? It is definitely not a luxury apartment. The lofts are all tiny and extremely overpriced. My loft did not even come with a ladder so I was unable to use the top part of my unit for 3 years. The floors in the units are not real hardwood but are unfortunately made out of faux wood plates that are plastered on. The faux wood peels off in certain areas and as a result looks gross. Most of the units look like they were renovated as quickly as possible. The nasty cheap rubber tiles that are in most bathrooms look very old. The rubber tiles crack from simply walking on them. The communal "gym" in the basement is similar to that of a prison gym. The equipment is super old and extremely limited. The washing machines are so old that they only work on quarters and most of the time eat your quarters as well. Nobody reimburses you. This review was posted in 2024 and I am flabbergasted that the washing machines are not operated by debit/credit cards (although it's a luxury apartment allegedly.) The dingy red carpet on the main floor looks like it was not replaced since the 1970s. It's old, dirty, and quasi red although it's morphing into another color because of its age. The walls in the lofts are wafer thin dry wall so you can literally hear everything that your neighbors are doing. The windows are not insulated very well because of how old the building is so you can hear all the racket that happens every day on Broadway and Central; every illegal car race, Harley guys revving their bikes, obnoxious continuous honking, sirens blaring, and screaming in the middle of the night. Century link and Xfinity stated that their internet will be slow due to the network congestion in the building. None of these negatives compare to how rude and unprofessional the management and especially the investors are. I was unable to move in with my dog because the description stated "Owner does not allow pets." I am not joking. Look at their website on any Loft that is to lease and it will state: "Owner does not accept pets." After living there for 3 years, I noticed many dogs and cats that other tenants were allowed to move in with even massive German Shepherds and Boxers that looked like they weighed over 80 pounds. It seems that not all the rules apply to all the tenants and there is nepotism and special treatment involved. If you do not pay the extra $40 per month to the city for the parking structure then you will have a very hard time finding a space around the building since you need a permit for most streets and there is also a chance of your car broken into, after all this is downtown Albuquerque. Also, downtown has become more dangerous since I moved in 3 years ago. You need to be very wary and mostly stay at home if you do plan to move into this unfortunate place. I need to add that the lofts that are listed for “lease” are not like other apartments for rent in the city. What I mean by this is when you sign a lease agreement for x amount of months with these guys and then once your lease is over, the owner of the unit has the option to either kick you out or make you buy it. Nobody told me this when I moved in and I was very surprised that at the end of my lease I had the option to buy it for an absurd amount of money or...
Read moreI lived at the Albuquerque High Lofts for one year. I loved the idea of the location and wanted to give downtown Albuquerque a try. Here are the pros and cons of my experience:
Pros The area is rich in history and the building is very unique. The courtyard is beautiful and maintained. Location is perfect if you like to walk to the movies, restaurants or bars.
Cons Management is rude. The lofts are managed by Edo Spaces. I found poor treatment to be consistent among Edo team members. Very, very disappointing. If there is a maintenance issue that needs attention - you will basically never know when your apartment is going to be entered. It will be a mystery. Obviously they will enter during business hours, M-F, but there is no note left behind saying they entered and a description of what transpired. Packages were stolen from outside my loft door. Keep in mind that you need a fob to enter into the building. When I moved out, I completed a walk-thru with the maintenance manager. Upon receiving my deposit, I was penalized for items that were not noted on the original sheet I signed upon completion of the walk-thru. I don't mind paying for things if they require it prior to the new tenant moving in, but there were items not originally noted or agreed upon handwritten post-signature on the sheet. I parked my car in a garage managed by Paradigm Parking. There were reports of vehicles being stolen from inside the garage (which I thought was pretty secure). The loft across from mine was broken into.
I realize theft happens everywhere, but this was the first time I noticed an increase of these occurrences out of the five complexes I have resided in. So, just something to be weary of. My main issue lies with...
Read moreThe good: The Lofts are very nice and well maintained in a conveinent area. I could walk actoss the street to Standard Diner or go 2 blocks and be at downtown. I love the hardwood, high ceilings, and huge windows. It feels very spacious and comfortable. Cleaning/maintenance staff is very nice. They will fix things that break ASAP and keep the complex well maintained overall.
The bad: Management was the worst part of living here. I had 2 landlords, a male and female. They are unorganized and seem to not be on the same page pretty often, as they are pure opposites. For example, i lost my keys and was locked out of my apartment one night. I texted both landlords to see if they could help. The man replied he would be there in one hour, where he gave me a spare to make a copy of. The woman replied the next morning saying theres nothing she could do and I need a locksmith. This applies to their general demeanor and treatment of residents. If theres an issue, i recommend contacting the male for help.
I did also spot cockroaches several times on the grounds. I only saw one inside my building once (never in my apartment), but they gather on the grounds every...
