I don’t usually get excited. Excitement is for amateurs. But walking into Squidly Designs in Albuquerque was—dare I say—tentacle-tingling.

The moment I stepped in, I was surrounded by an ocean of handcrafted wonders. Everything from squidly-scented candles to art so elegant it could hang in the Krusty Krab’s breakroom... if I actually cared about that place.

The shop is as calm and peaceful as a jellyfish ballet. The lighting? Perfectly moody. The layout? So organized it made my clarinet weep. And the staff? Annoyingly friendly—but in a good way, like a sponge who knows how to give you space.

I picked up a few gifts that were so unique, even Squilliam would be jealous. A squidly mug, some locally made jewelry, and a greeting card that was sarcastic and sentimental. I didn’t think that was possible.

Honestly, I agonized over the earrings here. There are so many! Such different styles! Do I need them? No! Do I want all of them? Yes.

I wandered in on a weekday during boring hours (for sales associates), and I browsed. I browsed very seriously. I made a little pile on the counter of all my treats. (Maybe don't do this if they're busy.) And oh I agonized over those earrings. So many cute fruits!

But if you need stickers, candles, cards, gifts, earrings, totes, or generally fun things for your desk, go see Squidly. They know. There are some things to soothe the tourist soul (postcards), but there's also more than enough to catch a local's eye.

I probably laughed out loud (so cringe) at some of their witty goods....
