I recently spent over $40,000.00 with the Ethan Allen Store in Alpharetta by Northpoint mall. This has been an absolute nightmare. Having been in the commercial furniture business I have experience with the industry and lead times. I also have experience with high end furniture manufacturers like Kimball and Henredon. This store is terrible. The lead times were about average at 12 weeks. No problem with that. They insist that you pay in full prior to delivery. Then they deliver a partial delivery and a lot of damaged goods. So with outstanding back ordered furniture I offer to pay all but $1000 out of $42,000.00 to ensure that they have a little skin in the game and take care of the damaged furniture. They refuse to accept that offer and refuse to deliver the balance of my furniture unless I am willing to accept the risk of them delivering even more damaged furniture. They have you over the barrel and they know it. They are condescending and offer solutions like … we will come take the furniture we already delivered and hold it until it’s repaired and re deliver it … leaving my home with little to no furniture. I spoke with the manager several times and her attitude was one of “basically you’re screwed” unless you pay in full we won’t deliver anything more. Having been in the business I’ve dealt with similar problems. It is not uncommon and in my experience clients holding partial payment until problems are resolved is common and customary in the furniture business. It’s not the problem that matters it’s the response to the problem and their response is terrible. They are elitist and I highly recommend finding other manufacturers like Kimball Fine Furniture or Henredon, any other high end manufacturer will be better than these jokers. Just a terrible customer service experience. Avoid this store at all cost they are really not all they are cracked up to be. Good products no doubt but absolutely awful...
Read moreOrdered two couches over Memorial Day Weekend. 1st couch turned out great. The second couch was a leather custom couch (over $5k). We worked with designer at Alpharetta store, Jenny, who showed us a swatch of leather that she felt would work. This was a swatch we would not have seen had she not brought it to us (was not available online or on a piece of furniture in the store). I took swatch home and seemed to work. We ended up ordering the leather she suggested and upon arrival of the couch, we realized it looked incredibly different than the swatch. We emailed and called the day of delivery to complain. The designer did come to the house two days later and proceeded to inform my husband that the swatch that was shown to us originally was 10+ years old. She then proceeded to tell us that corporate may not take the couch back bc "they don't like how this leather color shows in the showroom". I am not sure why this was not communicated PRIOR to ordering this leather couch.
I emailed the day of delivery, with photos, spoke with Alan and then Jenny came two days later. Was told corporate would get back with us in a week or two- this was in July. I have continued to email as we still (it's now October) have not been responded to with a resolution despite multiple emails (we keep getting told we should hear something from service dept and "thanks for being patient"). Last week I emailed again and was told that the manager would be calling us Friday and still have not heard anything.
We have over 10 pieces of Ethan Allen furniture over the years and have been so pleased. That is why we decided to order from them (it's been 17 years since we have bought couches). We spent over 9K on these two couches combined and I find it ridiculous that their customer service is this poor. We want a resolution and at least the decency of contacting us. From a customer service standpoint I...
Read moreWanted to love this experience so much but after years of fighting and being handed over from employee to employee, months of unresolved issues I have to be honest. Ethan Allen furniture may be of good quality, but the company’s customer service will make you regret your investment. Their practices feel closer to Value City than a luxury brand. Think twice before spending thousands here.
They cover ineptness with a smile, shift blame to the customer, and circulate you endlessly through departments until years pass—only to finally tell you that your warranty is no longer valid. I paid an additional $1,000 for a warranty that ultimately did nothing to protect my purchase.
Simple fixes are made unnecessarily complex and costly, with profit clearly placed over people. Dignity and customer satisfaction take a back seat, which is the fastest way to sink a brand built on trust.
For this customer I stand on principle and its dignity over dollars for me.
After finally being handed over to Jaclyn Conley who almost seemed to take our challenges personal and acted as though we were in high school forcing us to chase her down for resolution, and ignoring emails. She was aloof and callous. I'm completely over this entire experience and will be taking our concerns to Corporate.
Below is a photo of the $1,900 + rug that we had issues with from the start we requested a replacement and a refund of the warranty policy that never covered any of our furniture. Instead we were bargained with like we were on lets' make a deal. Told that was their final offer and have yet to have the email returned to bring full conclusion to this issue
