The staff at Jamestown Jewelry are not salespeople. They’re artists. Their skill level is second to none and what they were able to create surpassed every expectation I had. There were many. They were high.
When my husband and I began the process of finding a setting for a lab grown diamond he had purchased as a surprise, I thought it’d be easy. I wanted something simple. Classic. Timeless. A 2mm gold band with 6 prongs. Turns out, there are many versions of that both online and in stores. Also turns out, not a single one of them were what I was looking for.
When we decided that we may need to go custom in order to get exactly what we wanted, I was nervous. How could we be sure that nothing would be lost in translation? Armed with inspiration photos that each had a separate component (band width, band shape, prong angle, prong width…there were so many) which would come to together to make the perfect ring, we walked into Jamestown Jewelers.
Working with them was such a pleasure. Every detail was gone over. A digital rendering was made and approved. They sent me home with a 3D printing of my ring to wear around (we’re local), make sure it fit correctly and suited my lifestyle. I was regularly updated on the progress.
What they created is better than anything I had imagined. I have had it for several weeks now and am still in awe.
I will absolutely be coming back here for future needs (special, heirloom jewelry I hadn’t trusted anyone with before) and can’t recommend...
Read moreI will recommend Jamestown Jewelry again and again. My son and I went in near closing time on a Friday night to see if Jim could cut a CTR ring off of his finger. The CTR ring was stainless steel and a spinner ring so it was two layers of stainless steel. Keep in mind we had tried everything at home to get the ring off, we took him to a doctor to see if they could get it off and many, many staff and kids at his school tried during the day. Our last option was to hopefully find a jeweler who could do this for us or take him to the emergency room. Jim’s regular ring cutter would not do the trick because of the type of metal that it was. He replaced it with a diamond plated disk to see if that would do the trick and it still did not. It would have been so easy for him to say “sorry I can’t help you” and send us on our way but he kept trying. He then took my son into his lab and pulled out his Dremel tool and begin working away. After trying a couple diamond plated discs, it worked!!! He first was able to get the spinner which is the first layer off and then was able to get the second layer off. I can’t tell you how relieved we were to see that ring come off. Jim is a hero in our book. Thank you Jim for everything you did for him. I will definitely be back when I am ready to purchase some jewelry. As I looked around his quaint little store I saw gorgeous, modern jewelry everywhere. I have a daughter who will be getting engaged next year and I will be sending them to...
Read moreNo Pressure Jewelry Design Went through Jamestown Jewelry to design a custom anniversary "upgrade" wedding set. Before deciding on Jamestown, I spent a couple of months visiting at least 6 other jewelry stores (all across Utah) and I have to say the vibe at Jamestown is different (for the better).
The vibe was different in that at no time did I feel pressured, I didn't feel like it was about the money. Instead, I felt like I was dealing with a master craftsman who cares about his trade and is only offering quality goods that would represent HIS name in the best light.
It really is wonderful to have a set that YOU designed by a craftsmen that cares, with prices that are more than fair in a no-stress environment.
I would also like to add that I wanted a non-rhodium-plated white gold band (some companies call it "Vanilla Gold") but it has high nickel content so there's a higher risk of allergy to it. Other jewelry shops just outright refused to do it (or even denied it's existence) or told me to go get allergy testing (getting into a dermatologist usually takes months and allergy testing isn't cheap) but James just offered (at no additional cost) to make me a thin nickel-white-gold band to wear for a week or two so I would know for sure before having my ring made. THAT is the kind of service and intelligence you get with James and when he said that to me he got...
