Edit 3 - The new managers and staff have stepped up and made sure all issues got resolved to their ability. I do still feel that the construction is cheap and some tenants are extremely questionable with their behavior.
Edit 2 - We have had 13+ maintenance issues ranging from the roof not being attached ( still not fixed after a year ) , all the way to a faulty breaker going out for 2 months without getting fixed. To add insult to injury, the construction of the building is some of the poorest craftsmanship from a “luxury” living ive seen. The floors are not even, the blinds are constantly coming off, walls are constantly creaking from the wind and measurements mistakes with the construction are everywhere. Please do not give this property or management company any of your hard earned money. This building has fake cheap luxury all over it. My partner and I have felt ripped off since day 1 when we had to clean our “luxury” apartment after it wasnt taken care of before we moved on. Run far away. Dont make the same mistake as us. Take your hard earned money where it’s valued and you arent being scammed on the premise of “luxury”.
Ive seen buildings in Compton that have had more thought and care put into them.
Edit - Echoing other recent reviews. Car towed as a resident of over a year because I had the wrong sticker on my car and forgot to swap the blue and red with my partner. I was charged $330. An absolute abomination of a situation. I can’t recommend this properly at all based in how little they care about current residents.
My partner and I have put together an initial review after living here for two months. To gain a comprehensive understanding of what you're investing your hard-earned money into, read our complete review.
Let's start with the positives:
The staff is excellent. The amenities are top-notch. The location is prime. The apartments are 80% superb. The community is friendly and welcoming. The environment is quiet.
Moving on to the less desirable aspects:
The apartment was not properly cleaned before we moved in. We filled an entire vacuum bag with dust and found hair from the previous tenants scattered throughout the apartment. It was a distasteful experience. These apartments are 80% luxury (with high-quality appliances and major fixtures), while 20% of the elements seem to be of Ikea quality. The blinds on every window and door are very cheap, akin to $10 Walmart blinds. The doors, faucets, showerheads, and hanging racks for towels and clothes are not up to the mark. Within a month of moving in, we had to submit five maintenance requests. The issues included broken blinds, a screen door off its track, an electrical breaker going out on three separate occasions, and the AC completely breaking down for a day until it was fixed. If you order from Amazon or any service other than UPS, FedEx, or USPS, your package may be left at the entrance because carriers other than these three do not have the code to enter the building. Packages are left unattended almost daily (at the entrance, lobby, and outside the mailroom door). While we haven't heard of theft, it's concerning that an expensive order could be taken without anyone noticing. Management needs to address this problem to prevent potential thefts of high-value packages.
In conclusion, for the $2300 a month we pay for a two-bedroom, two-bath unit, we expected luxury at every turn and all minor details to be perfectly taken care of. However, that is not what we received. While this is a comfortable living space, it does have issues, particularly with the units themselves and the ongoing package delivery problems. This is not a reflection on the staff – they've been wonderful. It is a critique of Bigos Management's overall operation.
We would recommend Nuvelo if you're seeking a peaceful place to live and can afford it. However, if you prioritize luxury and attention to detail, Nuvelo may not meet your expectations. They fall short in these aspects. While I can overlook several issues for $1200 a month, for nearly $2400, I...
Read moreUpdating my review to piggyback every other review. Captain towing WILL tow your car whether you have a pass or not. It will cost $350+ to get it out (oh and if you don’t notice right away it’ll cost an extra $100 a day) and it’ll probably happen more than once. I am genuinly convinced they broke into my vehicle to move my pass because it was THERE at 10pm, car was towed at 1am, and the seal on my door was messed with in the towing process like the door was forced open. Beyond frustrating and a huge reason we’re leaving. It’s so sickening to go out to your vehicle and it’s missing, twice. Not a very “homey” experience. I still stand by the good in this review. Parking needs to be fixed immediately and Captain Towing owes people $$ for real.
My husband and I (and now our daughter + 80lb pup) have lived here for 3+ years now. We sold our house to invest into our business and wanted to live in a spot that felt better than other options options out there. This is by far the best rental we've lived in. We toured Nuvelo before deciding to sell our house and instantly were excited and at ease to move in. Our apartment unit itself is BEAUTIFUL! We love it. The amount of natural light, the beautiful kitchen, the hardwood floors, and the in unit W/D are all things we highly appreciate. We live in an end unit of the building and our apt doesn't share a wall with any other units so I'm not sure others experience, but for us, it's a quiet unit and we have no noise complaints minus sometimes the upstairs apartment moving chairs around or vacuuming.
My biggest pros here are the community spaces (we've hosted many family/friend gatherings in the community spaces), the pool, the very walkable area, and the SAFETY. This is by far the most safe I have felt in an apartment. Everyone here keeps to themselves but are friendly. Being here for 3 years, we've become friendly passer by-ers to many neighbors, knowing their dogs names, and human faces + sharing small talk in the elevators! People keep an eye out for each other whether its bringing packages in, helping with groceries/doors or just being friendly!
Cons... the hard water is probably my #1 complaint. it has caused many issues inside our apartment, including the AC unit clogging due to buildup and "flooding" our daughters room. On that same note, maintenance tried to tell me both times this happened that it was totally fine and not going to create mold. No. Water under carpet and soaking on the baseboards does = mold. The first time I was a month away from bringing home a newborn and they fought me on it so much, the second time, I insisted they get someone out to look at it. Sure enough they rip up the carpet and there is mold starting to grow under the baseboards and floor. Super frustrating to not be heard or taken seriously. Things do get fixed correctly but in my experience, only after putting up a fight otherwise some of the fixes feel lazy. The hard water has also ruined our nugget ice machine, coffee equipment and gives our berkey water filter a run for its money... oh and don't even get me started on the $$ we spend monthly on our shower head filters. If we don't use them, my baby and I both breakout from the water. I wish they would invest in a building wide water solution. AV has hard water but the tap water is truly just not drinkable, showerable, or great on appliances in my experience here. The package room will randomly be unavailable to get into due to wifi connections or the Ipad going down over the weekend, and then there's no one to contact about it, so you have to wait to get anything out till Monday.
Many surveys go out via email throughout the year, but I feel like nothing is ever really followed up on. Overall, the good outweighs the bad here and we're thankful for our time! I'd still recommend it to anyone asking about apartment living but I do wish that feedback was taken more seriously here sometimes. I'll update this as we...
Read moreBEST APARTMENT EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE!! I can GUARANTEE you will love living here.
This is hands down the best management company I have ever worked with. They go above and beyond for anything you need. When we signed here in September, our assigned parking spot wasn't ideal but was still good. We asked if there were any others closer to the elevator near our apartment and they said someone was moving out in October and we could take their spot when they moved. Without further prompting, they emailed me about this saying they already fulfilled my request and we will be able to have the super close spot to our apartment starting November 1st. This is one of the best examples so far that I have of them hearing what I want and accommodating me after I have signed and live here. They genuinely care that you have your ideal living situation and work hard to make that a reality throughout your time living here.
For the actual apartment experience, they have wonderful amenities and work hard to keep up a social environment even in the pandemic. They have already hosted two social distancing and safe gatherings for our community to be able to attend in the month and a half I have lived here. They also have hired a concierge here which is astoundingly fancy and amazing in my opinion. There is also a movie theatre, outdoor pool and lounge area, rooftop lounge, fitness center, heated garage and guest apartment. Also, coming soon is a car washing station from what I have been told in the heated garage. They also have so many different carts to help with moving and groceries. They have a dolly, a large yellow canvas bin, a platform cart, and a couple of two layered small grocery carts for our convenience. It's the small things like being able to bring your groceries in one trip with ease to your apartment that help push this place over the top. It really is a great bang for your buck.
The apartment itself is wonderful too! We went with the smallest unit which I normally wouldn't do. That amount of square footage usually deters me due to it being cramped. This apartment was laid out WONDERFULLY. It is one of the most optimized uses of space I have ever seen. I used to live in a 850 sqft. place and I have to say I think I actually have MORE storage here than I did at the old location. There is so much storage; it's astounding. The kitchen has so many cabinets that I am actually running out of things to fill them with. I thought the bedroom would be too small, but it fits our queen, two bedside tables, and a dresser with a TV on top easily. I'd say my only complaint with the actual design is that the larger one bedroom apartment doesn't include a tub so we had to go smaller (which worked out beautifully). That is very much a preference that isn't necessary. So if you want a tub, go with the smaller apartment.
Finally, I personally have been burned by past management companies who act like they care and once you sign, they make your life hell. This is NOT one of those places. I looked very meticulously and worked with an apartment locator (Thomas from Apartment Locators MN) who said Bigos is an excellent management company and I have to say he nailed it! This is the bets management company I've ever experienced. You will not regret...
