Bodega 42 Fresh Market — Local services in Apple Valley

It’s a nice store very clean but it’s been twice that I’ve gotten bad meat! First time I got it and went back the next day to let them know that the meat wasn’t good and they tried saying I messed with the temperature. After I explained that I was 5 min away from the store they retracted their statement and gave me “new” meat and explained that they prep it everyday fresh lie you can tell it’s the same thing as the day before. It’s a new store and I can understand somethings going bad but own up to it. Second time was the last time that I’m buying meat. As they do not do anything about the meat section. Their bread is a hit or miss trying to figure out what was made fresh or leftovers, so would definitely avoid that. The fresh tortillas are amazing! If you wanna shop go ahead just avoid the meat department...

Unfortunately, I just had a very bad time with my mother here! We loved coming here to buy because until today they had been very kind and they have very good Latin products apart from the delicious food they sell.

But today we went to buy some Harina Pan that had a price a few cents cheaper than what they were charging us at the cash register. It even had the label with the exact name of what we were buying and the cashier very kindly wanted to help us but when she called the manager from the beginning she had a very rude attitude and when she saw that she had made the mistake her response was that we had to buy by reading the code that appears in the price and not the name of the product and in a mocking way demonstrating that my mother was ignorant. We had no problem paying what we had to pay, the problem was that the manager treated us very badly and it is sad to know that we as Latinos go through something like that and in a place where we liked to go so much.

Just being kind and accepting the mistake was enough, there was no need to treat us that way.

Lamentablemente acabo de pasar un muy mal momento con mi madre acá! Nosotras nos encantaba venir a comprar porque hasta hoy habían sido muy amables y tienen muy buenos productos latinos aparte de la rica comida que venden.

Pero hoy fuimos a comprar unas Harina Pan que marcaban un precio unos centavos mas económico de lo que nos estaban cobrando en la caja registradora. Tenia la etiqueta hasta con el nombre exacto de lo que estábamos comprando y la cajera muy amablemente quiso ayudarnos pero cuando llamo a la encargada desde el principio fue con una actitud muy ruda y al ver que ella si había cometido el error su respuesta fue que teníamos que comprar leyendo el código que aparece en el precio y no el nombre del producto, de forma burlona haciendo demostración de que mi madre era una ignorante. Nosotros no teníamos problema en pagar lo que se tenia que pagar, el problema fue que la encargada nos trato de muy mala manera y es triste saber que nosotros como latinos pase algo asi y en un lugar donde nos gustaba tanto ir.

Solo con ser amable y aceptar el error era suficiente, no era necesario tratarnos...

This place is phenomenal! A foodie’s dream! The customer service was the best I’ve ever seen at a market/maybe even anywhere. The workers explained what things were, offered suggestions, offered samples to try, and were just so appreciative to their customers. This is the opposite of your average chain grocery store. I will be back to try their baked goods, as they were the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. I highly recommend their hot food to go (deli area). I got lunch to go and it lasted me three lunches!! Also- their freshly made tortillas, chips, guacamole, and salsas are pure perfection. It’s so great to have authentic food options in Apple Valley.
