Houska's Ace Hardware — Local services in Arnold Township

Awful experience! Waited for an ungodly amount time to get paint mixed. Lady mixing the paint tells me she would be right with me. I was understanding and willing to wait. Meanwhile, she poceeds to checkout 10 more customers and accept inventory. I'm not just going to stand there for the woman's entire shift. My husband and small child were waiting in the car for at least a good 35 minutes. I asked another worker if he can help and he said he doesn't know how to work the paint. During all this time, there is another employee just standing behind a counter in the back doing nothing and staring at me. Apparently, this paint issue has been an on going problem since 4 years ago. Another reviewer left a similar review. That alone goes to show that the appropriate measures have not been taken to resolve this issue. Owners can continue to reply to these reviews, but it doesn't change the fact that it doesn't get resolved. This place is a joke and will sadly fold in comparison to other Ace stores that value customer service. Edit: Took my business elsewhere. Go to Cotton's Ace Hardware in Afton. Stopped in to get a couple cans of paint. I was in the paint section for 45 minutes and not one person asked if they could help me with anything. The ladies working the paint section made it a point to make it feel like I was hugely inconveniencing them by having to stop what they were doing and answer a question and then ultimately assist me with mixing some paint. It was such an uncomfortable feeling as a customer that I actually had two cans of paint and before she came back with the first one I put the other can of paint back on the shelf for fear of asking her to mix another one for me and getting a worse reaction. Were they busy? Yes. But so was the awesome older gentleman working cashier who went above and beyond to make his customers feel appreciated, which is the reason I’m giving this review any stars. I’m giving a 3 stars only because the girl at the check out was nice. Otherwise it would be 1.5, as the guy working there is rude and has no idea what is in the store. Went in asking for window mops and squeegees he sent me to the automotive isle. When I asked him, is this all they had. His reply yup that’s it. When I went around further, I actually found what I was looking for. I knew they had them because I did take the time to look online to see if they had them in stock as I’ve purchased the same items at other Ace hardware around the country. I say this is the worst hardware I’ve ever been to Dusty Dingy isles. Most days hardware I’ve been to the people are very helpful no exactly what in their store and where to find it.
