Went to the Sunny Street Café in Wildwood, MO for the first time today and will never go back. Very confusing situation where upon entering the café, we were told it was a 10-25 minute wait (just before 10 am on Sunday, which would not be unexpected). Granted there were 6 of us, but there were a number of open tables that did not warrant a wait, including a large one that could accommodate our group. We asked about outside as all tables were open and they indicated we could sit there with no wait, which is what we said we would do. Well, after waiting 10 minutes longer, they decided to sit us inside at the big table which was open from the moment we came in. No big deal to this point, but from the time we sat down at the table until the time we were even acknowledged it was 20 more minutes (which I timed using my phone’s stopwatch). Not only did it take that long, but I had to ask the hostess if anyone even knew we were here. We were finally greeted by a very nice waitress who started to take care of us. Since our family has dairy and gluten allergies, we asked if they could cook the food with oil or a spray as opposed to butter. Apparently, everything is cooked with butter, no exceptions and they have no separate pans for cooking eggs without butter. To be honest, serves us right for not calling ahead and asking about the allergies. However, the people there have no clue about allergies and even how to respond to basic questions that every other breakfast restaurant we have been to in the St. Louis area always easily answers. To me this appears to be a case of a business run by people who do not know how to run a business. Took forever to get seated, clueless hostess and servers not even realizing no one was waiting on us for 20 minutes until I said something, and even more clueless about allergies. Most new places know about allergies and I know they cannot always accommodate. As such, don’t waste...
Read moreShout out to Nikki for being the only bright spot to this visit and employee willing to step up and even attempt to rectify a bad situation. She is the only reason that this is not a 1 star review.
I stopped in this morning to pick up a GrubHub order. I knew as soon as I arrived and saw that the pick up time had come and gone by nearly an hour that there was a problem. As soon as I arrived I was peppered with a laundry list of why the order wasn't ready and / or couldn't be rushed.
The restaurant was having 'issues' with all of their 3rd party delivery platform tablets They didn't have the order The order had not been entered into the restaurant POS. I watched the girl not only ring it in, she had to call someone over to help her enter in the Hashbrown Breakfast plate that was ordered I asked to speak with a manager. I was told I couldn't because he hadn't come in yet. At 11:37 am, a 'Breakfast Cafe' has no manager The order couldn't be rushed because they were 3 people short.
Finally, I just had to say you can keep making excuses, but that doesn't solve my problem. Keep in mind this is a 'Breakfast Cafe', that closes at 2 pm, operating 3 people short, with orders running an hour or more late, and the so called manager can't be bothered to show up until nearly noon. Seasoned delivery drivers hear a lot of excuses from restaurant staff. As I explained to Nikki, all the hostess needed to do was to be honest with what was going on. Every excuse she tried to pile on just exacerbated the problem.
If all of this wasn't enough, the 'manager' couldn't be bothered to come speak to me. Nikki did indicate that the customer would be refunded her money. I followed up with both the customer and GrubHub to make sure that the customer indeed got...
Read moreThis was one of the most disgusting meals I have ever had so if you have a weak stomach, move on to the next review. We sat at the bar so we were able to see into the kitchen, on countless occasions we saw the cooks in the kitchen touch their face, aprons, and trash and go straight back to touching food that was being served on plates and on the ready counter with their bare hands (no gloves used from anyone touching food) The most disgusting thing we saw was the pancake cook rubbed the sweat from his forehead and then wipe his hand on his apron, then he took that same hand and grabbed two pancakes and threw them onto a plate on the ready counter to be served to people. This same guy never washed his hands once the whole time we were there and we were paying attention more to the disgusting things we saw from the kitchen than each other. The next thing I saw was the manager (I assume she was the manager because she barked more orders than the fingers she lifted) the lady with the semi colon tattoo dropped her shoulder towel on the floor. This is the towel that she had been using to clean the counter where food was prepped by the bar girls, put it right back on her shoulder and then came back over to the counter to clean up some gravy that was spilled. This is where food was prepped right before being plated along with syrup cups, ketchup cups, dressing cups before going onto the plate. It was flat out disgusting and would warn anyone and everyone that doesn’t want their food or their children’s food to have dirt from the floor, sweat from their foreheads, and grime from their aprons all over their plates. This business needs to have a third party food inspector come in and clean house ASAP! I will be doing my part by making a few phone calls today....
