Overall I've had good experience with Cyber Works, but most recently I'm disappointed. My external hard drive is near death, and Kyle told me they could determine whether data is able to be recovered. Being naiive about what questions to ask etc. I assumed they are knowledgeable in this area. After reading online and finding what questions to ask etc. I realized I had to backtrack. A few calls and emails later, namely to two of the top 3 orgs nationwide who handle data recovery, I realized where I need to send my drive. I really wish they had educated me up front about the risks etc. of data recovery methods, what options are available, and what the limited scope of their abilities truly is. I realize that no one can recover the data if it's gone. My concern was more that they were testing the drive while plugged into power, which experts in data recovery know can cause irreparable damage and permanently lose data. I am willing to pay 8x their estimate so I can recover 17 years of business files and my family pictures. I think it is more ignorance vs. them knowlingly attempting work best left to others more highly skilled. If I'm not knowledgeable in an area, I tell my clients. I've also done business with many individuals so passionate about their field they will educate you without you asking what you need to know to make informed decisions. That is how you know you're working with an authority.
I was relieved that Joe, not prompted by me in any way, offered a 50% discount on the diagnostic fee since they hadn't done much work (as he put it). They did not have to do this especially since when I asked about the online special for $30 off diagnostic fees I was told it only applies to the PC tower itself.
I am giving 3 stars as I've bought two enclosures for my laptop hard drives from Cyber Works when the machine died. Their turn around time was quick, fees were reasonable, and the guys are friendly and helpful. I've also had fingerprinting done at both locations several times over the past decade for my employer and they are adept at grabbing prints, which not all digital fingerprint...
Read moreI was looking for a place to have my MacBook fixed since MacOS was uninstalled when trying to do a factory reset on my computer. I was told it would not take more than two days. I dropped my computer off on Monday August 26th. I was in Green Bay for some work related meets and called to see if the computer was ready to be picked up. I was told it would be done by end of day. My meeting only last till about 2 pm so I waited until 6pm to head home. Hoping I would get a call. I live almost an hour away from Green Bay…. It is now September 2nd and while it is a holiday I expected to get a call back last week and never did. I usually base where I go to get things done on the reviews and for the most part they were all really good. The expectation set by the employee was two day and after the two days I was told end of day from when I called. I think overall they have some very friendly individuals who I’m sure are amazing at their respective jobs. However, I feel like there should be a clear expectation when it comes to setting time frames for when something will be completed. If my computer was not going to be ready by end of day I would have been more ok with them telling me it would be a week rather than saying it would be done at end of day and have me sit around town waiting for them to call me. I gave a three star because while I have not received my laptop back yet I hope with the extended time they took (that was not communicated) that a resolution would have been found to fix my issue.fingers crossed
Update: it’s is now Tuesday and turns out the computer I brought in was ready last week Thursday and I never got a call or anything but I had to call not once but twice to get an update. I probably will not use this place again. If the computer wasn’t going to be done by end of day I would have expected to get a call back letting me know it would...
Read moreBEST CUSTOMER SERVICE I'VE EVER EXPERIANCED I recently had a computer monitor start having issues with the power supply, I called Cyber Works and told them the situation, instead of just selling me a power supply they told me to bring in the monitor at no cost to make sure they can find one that works perfectly. They had a universal PSU and made sure it worked with my monitor before selling it to me. A few months later that PSU burnt out too (at the fault of my monitor) realizing I was going to be forever replacing PSUs until the monitor actually died and not ready to buy a new one, I called them again to see if they had another in stock, THIS IS WHERE THEY WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND instead of just taking my money for another PSU and sending me on the way they took it upon themselves to deal with the manufacturer on my behalf and were able to get me a replacement monitor from the manufacturer. They did this for no financial gain of their own nor was it even the store I purchased the monitor from. They did this to help me the customer out, and you just don't find that anymore at any store at all. Besides the amazing customer support I received, the staff and owner are very very knowledgeable and are passionate about what they do. If they don't have what you are looking for they usually can order it or will happily point you in the right direction, their goal is to find your best solution! do yourself a favor and...
