The following is a summary of my experience purchasing a vehicle from Family Motor Company in Tualatin, Oregon in July of 2021. I am leaving the review here because their Google presence for the Tualatin, Oregon location no longer is visible. In regard to my experience purchasing the vehicle, it was disclosed to me that the vehicle was purchased from an auction in Arizona, it was a previous "government" vehicle and that it had some paint fixed on the driver door. I purchased the vehicle based off of this information. Soon thereafter I took my vehicle to my mechanic and he pointed out to me that the entire left side of the vehicle had likely been replaced due to a previous accident. I called Joseph to address this issue as I wanted to give them the opportunity to make it right with me. His wife Faith called me back and refused to let me talk to Joseph even though he was the one I dealt with in purchasing the vehicle. After talking to his wife Faith on the phone I stated to her that I wanted to give them the opportunity to make it right for me or I would have to leave negative reviews online about my experience. Her immediate response was to threaten to sue me, which by her doing this violates the Consumer Review Fairness Act of 2016. After some back and forth we agreed that they would give me the name of a mechanic to inspect the vehicle for evidence of a previous accident. After not hearing back from them for over a month I reached out to them again to get the name of a mechanic. On 11/11/2021 the mechanic inspected the vehicle and concluded that the hood and right front corner panel had been replaced and the entire vehicle was repainted, all due to a previous accident. Family Motor Company responded to this assessment and stated that since there "is no indication of damage to the frame or sub-structure" they "are not liable" and will be doing nothing in regards to this matter.    Read morePortland/Tigard location. Shady. Would give negative stars. Luckily I didn't get dropped off with my baby. Had my 5 year old and 2 month old with me to finalize and pay in full. After Joseph and I signed all the paperwork, including DMV forms and trip permit, I go to hand over my check for the keys and he has "a freak out moment". Price on their own website and multiple texts on agreed price from his wife that I paid for a cashier's check for, as well as on our contract, were a "typo". Won't hand me the keys. He goes on to tell me how much he spent on this car, price of the 2021 model (we're talking about a 10 year old used car), pulls up a Craigslist ad for $10,000 more than THEIR website, confirmation texts, and written and signed contract. Says they can change paperwork if there's a typo but won't show me where on our signed contract it says that. He started off apologizing and saying he wasted our time and that it's never happened.. He quickly became rude and arguementative. If I signed a finance agreement with a "typo" I would be S.O.L. He would not honor our SIGNED contract. Stole my copy because I was distracted with my baby and what he was trying to pull, said he is going to shred iylt refused to give me back my copies of signed paperwork that I have a right to.    Read moreI'll start by saying I have a definite concern going to used car dealers, but Family Motor Company is a clear exception. I ran into a tough spot when the engine in my 02 Camry seized up, but when I saw the 2014 Camry SE these guys posted online I thought it could be a stroke of good fortune. I spoke to Ben the next day over the phone and immediately felt comfortable thanks to his professionalism, knowledge and honesty! We arranged a test drive, and the car was outstanding on the road. Ben went through a very clean Carfax history with me, and it looked great! He also alerted me to the torque converter issue with '12-'14 Camry transmissions, and showed that they had already fixed that problem ahead of time. Ben was absolutely fantastic during the entire process, great with keeping in communication, able to answer my many questions and concerns, and even knocked off $500 as a thank you to my military service. I could not be happier with this experience, and I feel a huge weight of stress lifted off me! I highly recommend Ben at Family Motor Company to anyone that is looking for an honest and transparent used car dealer with great quality vehicles and even better customer service!!...
