Extremely poor service and zero communication from the Bike Barn/ElectroBike. I dropped my Aima Big Sur off with a flat tire and asked for an annual tune up, brake check, and chain replacement as my chain had been skipping. I was not given a timeline and had to follow up with them on a weekly basis as no communication was ever made on their end to let me know where my service stood. One evening, I happened to be walking by the shop and stopped in to get an update. Isaiah, the mechanic, told me that he may be able to get to my bike in the next day or so if "other projects didn't come in". Another week went by with no communication. As a month had passed, I called again to be told that they were still waiting on a tube to fix my back tire. Isaiah was rude on the phone and seemed irritated that he had to talk to me and again gave me no timeline. As it had been several weeks with this same excuse, I walked to another bike shop out of curiosity and was able to purchase the tube I needed with no problem. I walked the tube to Bike Barn to give to them in hopes that they could make the repair and let me take my bike home as the other repairs had apparently already been done (or so I was told). When I arrived, Isaiah seemed exasperated and told me that my bike needed new tires instead of a new tube. This was never communicated to me. He then walked off mid-conversation and left the remainder to his colleague who apologized profusely on his behalf. At the end of the day, no work had been done on my bike in the month that they had it. Nothing. Brakes were still off, no chain replaced, and the back tire still flat. I couldn't believe it. I took my bike to Outback Bikes in Little Five Points and now have an expected date of completion, text updates, and actual service from several mechanics there. Do not waste your time with the Bike Barn/ElectroBike unless you want to be without a mode of transportation for a very long time.
UPDATE
After leaving the Bike Barn and taking my bike to Outback Bikes on Friday, I was given an update from Outback regarding what my bike needed the following Tuesday. The work was completed and I got my bike back in excellent condition on Wednesday. Less than a week after dropping it off. This included a replacement tire the Bike Barn claimed hadn’t come in after four weeks. I suspect this was because it was never ordered. Don’t waste your time at the Bike Barn and head to Outback Bikes where they will actually do the work in a reasonable amount of time and for a...
Read moreMy wife and I just purchased a second Magnum e-bike through Electrobike of Georgia and Eric Hunger.
Our first purchase was a Magnum Cruiser in late February early March 2020. Work sent me to Salt Lake City for an extended stay and with Eric’s enthusiasm, network and knowledge I was able to rent a Magnum Ranger. The idea to buy second bike where my wife and I could ride together started in Salt Lake City where I commuted daily on the bike and enjoyed the scenery of the city. The service I received in Salt Lake reinforced the idea that Magnum was the place we to start.
Our main priority was to find a bike to fit my wife and for her to be comfortable. Magnum came through perfectly. Eric’s knowledge, honest opinions, and customer service are truly a rare combination in this day and age. We chose both of your companies because of the customer service that we have previously received. We never considered another shop besides Electobike. We did our research and test rode a different bike to make sure that we had the right choice to begin with in Magnum. This only reinforced that Magnum was the right company for us. Everything from the quality of the bikes, the bike features, the bike fitting, and the customer service made this a very easy decision.
While there are plenty of quality e-bike manufactures, Magnum is the right company for us and it took Eric all of about a minute to figure that out and point us in the...
Read moreI bought a folding ElectroBike Air 33 in the winter of 2017 for use as my daily commuter. Riding it pretty rough over sidewalks full of bumps, cracks, and potholes, I ended up with quite a few maintenance issues over the first couple months. After six months of daily use, and a broken throttle or two, the motor gave out. I took it in and the owner of the shop honored the 1-year warranty and gave me a brand new bike. Riding the second bike a bit more carefully, six months later I still had some of the same maintenance problems as the first bike. Specifically, the battery locking mechanism broke off, the throttle kept breaking, and most importantly, the front fork was creaking badly. A few weeks ago, I ordered a similar folding electric bike from a different company.
In the end, I feel like the bike I bought was of decent but not great quality, and had a lot of non-standard parts that made maintenance and upgrades difficult. The service I received from the shop owner and mechanics at both their main shop and the Bicycle Barn down in Inman Park was also of good but not great quality. From my personal experience, I would recommend ElectroBike for people who aren't planning on riding their bikes very hard and aren't interested in learning bike maintenance themselves. My newest bike was an online order and admittedly having a local shop down the road for specialized maintenance is...
