Synopsis: Isaiah was the only good thing about this shop. If you are not renting a bike (how they make most of their money), they really don't want anything to do with you. Terrible service, go literally anywhere else.
Review: Went in the bike barn to potentially buy a new bike, with all the bells and whistles. Spoke to the associate Isaiah who tried to help me find one, but had none in stock that were my size. Kindly, he offered to order me one and said they would build and tune it for me. Great! ETA for the bike was one week, and they'd call me when it was ready.
A week later I go in after not receiving the call, another associate brushes my questions off and says again they'll call when it has arrived. I go to the brand's website and put in the exact specs, ETA for the bike is 9 days. Okay, I'll give it some time.
Another week passes no call, surely its ready now? I go in, and they tell me they "might have made a mistake" with ordering the bike and that it hasn't been ordered... Well surely something had to have happened because the money was gone from my account and I have a receipt. This time the President, Eric, is there, and he assures me that they'll order it right away.
Mistakes happen, thats life. I give Eric my phone number and email address and ask for a confirmation code or tracking number, really anything that says the bike is on its way. Eric agrees to send it and that they typically get them within a day of placing the order.
4 days later and no confirmation or update on the bike that I paid money for 3 weeks ago.
Went in again, this time I want a refund. Eric is in a bad mood. He tells me "No, you cant get a refund, the bike has already been shipped"
Regardless of if it had been shipped, You already had my money for 3 weeks, I asked you to give some reassurance, you agreed, and then basically told me neither my time nor money was welcome here. On principle alone I need my refund, because now its disrespect. And bad business.
Eric tells me to "Stop it," and that "If you're trying to prove something to someone, you can just go somewhere else"
I tell Eric that I have no problem doing that.
He takes forever getting my transaction pulled up on the computer, and while he does, some bike renters come in to drop off their rentals.
Eric asks for MORE of my time to take care of the renters BEFORE completing my refund. I tell Eric that I deserve to be served just like anyone else in the store. He still proceeds to handle their rental before me. And thats the last time I, or anyone I know will ever be seen in the Atlanta...
Read moreExtremely poor service and zero communication from the Bike Barn. I dropped my e-bike off with a flat tire and asked for an annual tune up, brake check, and chain replacement as my chain had been skipping. I was not given a timeline and had to follow up with them on a weekly basis as no communication was ever made on their end to let me know where my service stood. One evening, I happened to be walking by the shop and stopped in to get an update. Isaiah, the mechanic, told me that he may be able to get to my bike in the next day or so if "other projects didn't come in". Another week went by with no communication. As a month had passed, I called again to be told that they were still waiting on a tube to fix my back tire. Isaiah was rude on the phone and seemed irritated that he had to talk to me and again gave me no timeline. As it had been several weeks with this same excuse, I walked to another bike shop out of curiosity and was able to purchase the tube I needed with no problem. I walked the tube to Bike Barn to give to them in hopes that they could make the repair and let me take my bike home as the other repairs had apparently already been done (or so I was told). When I arrived, Isaiah seemed exasperated and told me that my bike needed new tires instead of a new tube. This was never communicated to me. He then walked off mid-conversation and left the remainder to his colleague who apologized profusely on his behalf. At the end of the day, no work had been done on my bike in the month that they had it. Nothing. Brakes were still off, no chain replaced, and the back tire still flat. I couldn't believe it. I took my bike to Outback Bikes in Little Five Points and now have an expected date of completion, text updates, and actual service from several mechanics there. Do not waste your time with the Bike Barn unless you want to be without a mode of transportation for a very long time.
UPDATE
After leaving the Bike Barn and taking my bike to Outback Bikes on Friday, I was given an update from Outback regarding what my bike needed the following Tuesday. The work was completed and I got my bike back in excellent condition on Wednesday. Less than a week after dropping it off. This included a replacement tire the Bike Barn claimed hadn’t come in after four weeks. I suspect this was because it was never ordered. Don’t waste your time at the Bike Barn and head to Outback Bikes where they will actually do the work in a reasonable amount of time and for a...
Read moreFirst off I'd like to say that I don't do reviews and I'm rarely overly impressed.
Today however was different and I felt as though I should write this review. I went into the shop today for the first time with my daughter. She is about to turn 18 and wanted a bike for fun and to take to college. They were very busy as it was the first really warm and sunny day in a while. They were extremely pleasant and very accommodating. My daughter is tiny and finding a good fit for her was proving to be difficult. They answered all our questions, offered suggestions, and let us take a spin on the beltway, my daughter on the one she was interested in, and they let me go with her on a rental bike at no charge. We ended up buying an older bike that they used for rentals that was relatively cheap. We bought an over the rear tire rack and they were very gracious about staying past their closing time to put it on her bike and threw in a bottle holder also. The Frenchman that runs the floor and the bike mechanic were the absolute best. They treated us as though we had bought a more expensive bike. I definitely will...
