Editing my review based on the salons response:
Thank you for your response, but I’d like to clarify a few things from my experience.
While you state that all pricing was clearly listed and presented to me, I was only shown a menu for pedicure options—not for nail services. No one verbally explained the breakdown of fees before beginning, and your website does not list these add-on charges either (as shown in the attached screenshot). That lack of transparency made the extra fees feel unexpected and frustrating.
Regarding the $5 SNS soak-off fee—this feels misleading. Soaking off old SNS is a required step in applying a new SNS manicure. It’s not an optional add-on, so to treat it as a separate charge rather than part of the base price is forcing a fee on every SNS customer. Most salons either include this in the overall price or disclose it clearly before starting. That wasn’t the case here.
As for the $5 almond shape fee—I had to walk the technician through the shape myself. And the $10 manicure add-on? The quality didn’t reflect it. The nail environment was unclean, the massage chairs were uncomfortable, and the strong acetone smell made the experience far from relaxing.
Again, I appreciated the validated parking, but overall, this was not a service I’d return for. I hope this feedback helps improve clarity and consistency for future clients.
Original review:
I visited Eleven Nail Bar in West Midtown today for an SNS manicure and gel pedicure. I called ahead to ask about availability and was told they don’t take reservations but welcome walk-ins, which was fine.
Starting with the positives: They do validate parking for two hours at The Interlock, which saved me $9—a definite perk in that area. I was seated within about five minutes of arriving, which was a nice surprise for a walk-in.
Now for the not-so-great parts: The smell of acetone when I walked in was extremely strong—almost overpowering. Thankfully, there was a large (though unsightly) fan near the pedicure stations that helped circulate the air. Unfortunately, the salon overall felt dirty and disorganized, and it definitely didn’t feel like a relaxing environment. The massage chairs were also uncomfortable and stiff.
The nail service itself left a lot to be desired. My nail tech struggled with shaping my nails into a simple almond shape, and I had to walk her through the process. The pedicure was no better—my toenails were filed slanted, and when I pointed out that the polish was still sheer, I was told that’s “just the color” (I’ve worn OPI Funny Bunny for over five years—I know how it should look). He ended up removing the top coat and adding another layer, but my toes still didn’t look right.
To top it off, when I checked out, there were $20 worth of unexpected fees tacked onto my total: • $5 to remove my SNS • $10 for a “manicure add-on” (even though it wasn’t anything beyond standard prep) • $5 for the almond shape—despite me having to guide the tech through it
I left feeling frustrated and disappointed. Between the poor quality of service, uncomfortable environment, and hidden fees, I will not...
Read moreWhere do I start. So many mistakes: The hours on the door are different vs online. I was waiting till 10am for them to open as a walk in but I decided to call and they said they were already open. Their website said they validate parking for 2 hrs. I asked the girl at the counter about and she just pointed to a form for me to fill out. Didn't say anything else. She told me to follow the nail tech to my chair, which was filthy. There were clipped nail debris on the seat, nail dust everywhere. I had to wipe the seat and sides before sitting. I still got stuff on my pants. The nail tech was talking to her friend on her cell phone, face time, and propped her phone on the cart so she could still talk to her. I wasnt on my phone, trying to be present for my experience. She didn't notice this. Halfway through, the nail tech suddenly walked away to bring me nail colors to pick (I am used to deciding this upfront after checking in). I chose #504 a true orange color as I already had hot pink and was tired if it. The nail tech kept cleaning her tools in my foot water and discarding my cuticle debris back in my water, while my feet were still soaking (vs after my feet are out), which I had never seen before. When she painted my nails, it was hot pink, not orange. I asked if it was 504 but she showed me the bottle which said 504. I let it go thinking I made a mistake. A random young girl came over telling me they won't cover my parking unless I spend $35 (I was at $31). She said I should upgrade to gel polish which I'm not allowed to do with my treatment or pay $6. I said no problem, I will just cover my own parking in the app. I still had 1 hour validation from Starbucks running and could increase my time from there. I politely told her no thanks. I check out and the girl told me they already paid my parking. So did I. I paid twice for parking now. This was disappointing as their site didn't say anything about a $35 minimum. The girl pointed to some small fine print on the form, which I didn't see. I wish they would have just told me upfront and I wouldn't have filled the form in the first place. I decided to pick up the color sample and saw that 504 was in fact orange, not hot pink, on the color guide. Not my mistake, but theirs. I pointed it out to the girl who still charged me double parking. I didn't have time for a repaint and told her I was disappointed in my experience. The nail tech and checkout girl agreed it was the wrong color, but did not offer a discount or comp for my parking or anything. Someone kept passing gas during my service and there was only one other customer but she was further away. It seemed like it was coming directly from my nail tech. I have a very sensitive sense of smell so this was nauseating. I will not go back and will let all my friends know about my experience. Les Mains nails at the Works is ten times cleaner, nicer, and more organized (where I...
Read moreI recently visited Eleven Nail on May 30th to get SNS and a pedicure. Unfortunately, my experience wasn't the best. I would usually go to my regular person, but she was out of the country, and I was going on a trip for seven days. The longer I go without getting new SNS, the more fragile my nails become and risk breaking further. Additionally, I was having a tough day as my grandfather recently passed away. Considering all these factors, I decided to get my nails done, but the experience made me sadder.
When I arrived, my SNS was coming off, and I had one broken nail. Since all my nails are real, I simply wanted to repeat the same style I had and add a tip to the broken nail. I explained this to the nail technician, and he seemed to understand. However, he began cutting my nails, cutting three out of the five nails on my left hand.
When I asked what he was doing and reiterated that I only needed a tip for the broken nail, he said he would give me a tip on those nails. I then asked why he was cutting my unbroken nails when I only needed a tip for the broken one. I usually don’t wear fake nails, and my nails were quite long. I understood that the broken nail needed a tip to maintain the length, but cutting my unbroken nails was unnecessary.
This moment was heart-wrenching and significantly ruined my experience. I hope that this feedback can help improve the service although I will not have future visits here. Now I have to grow back my nails. My pedicure was alright but the situation that occurred with my finger nails ruined my day and the design at the end of my finger nails was a 5 out of 10. - This doesn't include the unnecessary cut he did to my nails.
edit to respond to shop
I want to thank you for your condolences. I want to highlight that I saw what you originally wrote which sent condolences to my father despite me saying grandfather passed. Below I included a screen shot of your original response before you edited it to grandfather. That error made is an example of the lack of attention to me I experienced during my service. I never requested a cut of my nails. I asked for a sns with a tip to my broken nail. I never wanted to cut my nails and it didn't make sense to me when I explained that again to him that he said yea cut then add tip. Why would I cut my already 9 long nails to add a tip to them to bring them back to my old length? It would be nice if there was accountability but and intent to do better but instead it feels like even today you take no responsibility. My regular person is located at a different shop and I think this experience taught me to stick to what you...
