Antico Pizza Napoletana is a place that holds a special spot in my heart, and I've had the pleasure of visiting it multiple times, starting with my first visit back in 2012. Over the years, it has consistently delivered an exceptional pizza experience, and I'd like to share my thoughts on both the original location and the newer Battery location.
Let's start with the original location, which exudes an unmistakable charm. Nestled in a cozy corner of Atlanta, it's a small, unassuming space that transports you straight to the streets of Naples. The ambiance is rustic and authentically Italian, with the wood-fired oven taking center stage. The aroma of wood-fired dough and bubbling tomato sauce fills the air, immediately whetting your appetite.
Now, onto the pizza itself. The Neapolitan-style pizza at Antico is nothing short of extraordinary. The crust, thin and perfectly blistered from the intense heat of the oven, has a delightful chewiness. It's the kind of crust that makes you pause and savor each bite. The simplicity of their Margherita pizza, with its San Marzano tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil, and a drizzle of olive oil, is a testament to the quality of their ingredients. It's a harmonious symphony of flavors that will make you appreciate the beauty of simplicity.
Moving on to the Battery location, it offers a different experience. Situated in a more bustling environment, it brings a livelier atmosphere to your dining experience. The open kitchen concept allows you to watch the skilled pizzaiolos craft your pizza, adding an element of excitement to your meal. While the original location offers a more intimate setting, the Battery location caters to those seeking a bit more activity and energy.
One thing I particularly appreciate about Antico Pizza Napoletana is their commitment to authenticity. They don't cut corners when it comes to their ingredients or preparation methods. The tomatoes are imported from Italy, the mozzarella is made in-house, and the oven is a custom-made masterpiece. This dedication to tradition shines through in every bite.
What truly sets Antico apart is the passion of the people behind it. From the founder, Giovanni Di Palma, to the friendly staff who welcome you with warm smiles, their love for what they do is palpable. It's this love that translates into every aspect of the dining experience, making you feel like you're not just a customer but part of a pizza-loving family.
In conclusion, Antico Pizza Napoletana is more than just a pizzeria; it's an institution that has perfected the art of Neapolitan pizza. Whether you prefer the cozy charm of the original location or the lively buzz of the Battery spot, you're in for an unforgettable culinary journey. If you're a pizza enthusiast like me, this place is an absolute must-visit. It's not just one of the best pizza places in Atlanta; it's one of the best in the world. So, go ahead, indulge in a slice (or several) of pizza heaven at Antico—you won't be...
Read moreAVOID!!!!!!! I really hate to post this review but my wife and I were shocked today. Drove about 30 minutes out of our way to enjoy a delicious pizza here. Was great to see that there was no line. We walked in and this 20-something-year-old worker was on the phone. We went up to her stood within two feet of her and just waited patiently for her to resolve the problem that she was having on the phone. There were moments complete silence as long as 45 seconds to a minute. Literally we were two feet in front of her and she was leaning over. We waited patiently for about 8 minutes as I really wanted the pizza. She never looked up one time she never acknowledged us she never made any hand gestures like I'll be a minute. We waited until 10 minutes. I said to my wife maybe we should leave loud enough for her to hear me. I thought for sure this will get her attention. But no!! She continued to hug the countertop and ignore us. I know that the owners are in the back sometimes cooking the pizzas and they're always happy. I thought I could go back there and just order directly from them and maybe pay on the way out after this ineffective order taker had resolved for huge problem on the phone. After all that and probably about 12 minutes my wife and I sadly walked out without an amazing Pizza. This was on Tuesday around 2:30 in the afternoon.
I'm in the hospitality business myself and own several nightclubs. If I was the owner and had this order taker ignore my clients I would fire her on the spot. Things are different these days it seems and the tail is wagging the dog in many cases. It's very sad to see this situation. I don't know if I'll ever come back and risk wasting my time by being ignored.
Below is my prior review which was glowing. Owners wake up your loyal patrons are being ignored by Young staff who are clueless and have no social skills and shouldn't be interacting with your customers. It's costing you money! Attached is a photo of the young lady continuing to ignore us after I took a photo and walked out with my wife I had to go eat lunch somewhere else because sh e refused to take our order or even acknowledge us.
Previous review Great pizza? Probably the best in Atlanta. Charming! Very authentic. Pretty expensive though. Pepperoni...
Read moreAntico Pizza in Atlanta... I feel like this is a tough one because although the pizza is VERY good, i'm not entirely sure i'd go back? When I go places to eat i'm not only looking at "is it good", i'm looking at the overall experience! Was the food good, was the staff friendly, was the inside inviting and a fun place to eat, does it have stress-free parking? The little things that add to an amazing experience in my book. My wife and I ordered the LARGE LASAGNA PIZZA which comes with meatballs, ricotta and romano which cost me $21. The pizza is HUGE and has a decent amount of cheese and meatballs. The crust is nice and chewy but with a crusty side while the slice is on the thinner side, so it will flop if you grab a slice and not hold it up with 2 hands. I wish the sauce had a bit more flavor, but that's just how I like my pizza, with a bit more kick! Parking is so-so... small 4-5 car parking on the front with slightly larger parking on the other side. It is adjacent to a street where you can park for free. There is also an ice cream place across the street where you can park but all of these spaces get busy quick if you come during busy hours. The inside is spacious but it gets very very busy, so seating may either not be available or you may have to wait for a bit. The pizza does come out extremely fast though, so whether they are busy or not, you'll get your pizza fast. The atmosphere may be a bit too fast paced for me at the end of the day. No table was available for us to sit at so we ended up on a side window looking counter near the door with people coming in and out and waiting on tables. It got HOT really quick with the sun right on us through the window, so when I ran out of my bottled drink I was a bit sad. The good news is there is an ice cream place right across the street that Anticos has signs inside pointing towards to telling the crowd to go there next, it's called Illy. Good gelato inside an air conditioned place, perfect timing! Maybe Antico would be better if I lived closer or if I found a time they were not so busy? it would be nice to relax and enjoy your slice as you had a conversation with friends and family... but it's too loud in there and too crowded. Am I getting old!? I'll probably go back... did I mention the pizza is...
