Food Lion — Local services in Atlantic Beach

This review is for a staff member named Martin.

I got home from the grocery store last night atoms 10:15, put everything away, did some other chores and over an hour later realized my cell phone was nowhere to be found. The only place I could have left it was the Atlantic Beach Food Lion, most likely sitting in my cart. Of course the store had now been closed for an hour and a half. Frantically I jumped in my car and drove back up to the store just in case I had dropped it in the parking lot. When I got there I could see an employee (a young man named Martin) still in the store. I motioned him over and explained the situation. He immediately found a manager who opened the safe but saw no phone. Martin came out and started going through every cart. I of course joined in the search but we still did not find the phone. I was about to give up when Martin offered to walk up and down the aisles, calling my number to see if he could hear the phone. WOW!!! So, I gave him the number, he dialed and started to walk away and there it was...I heard the ring. I had somehow missed it as I looked through the carts.

Martin went so above and beyond what I would have ever expected, especially considering how late it was (11:30pm)! My phone is my lifeline and I could tell he understood that and was going to do whatever he could to help me find it! That level of customer service is hard to find these days! Martin, thank you so much for going above and beyond the call of duty... it won't...

The store was clean and organized. They would have probably gotten a 5 star, but the self checkout caused me to change my rating.

The self check out had a few people there checking out with the staff chatting and laughing with a customer. We, of a darker race, arrived to check out and the staff attendant walked over and stood behind us. Now, she bypassed everyone else if a lighter race that was checking out. She stood behind us, as though you are avoid paying for something. I looked at her watching us scan our grocery and I said, we did not need help. She watched us, leaving others of a different race alone. As we got ready to leave, I told her to have a great day and said, not everyone of our dark race are dishonest! When we were walking out, she went back and stood to her register. Now keep in mind, all the self checkout counter were now full but she choose to stand close enough to watch us....

If you work there your gonna be disappointed. I was an employee cashier with them at that time. They treated the employees bad and mostly the cashiers who have to deal with more hard work. When asked to work full time they don't give it to you. If you work full time you get health insurance but only bosses can get that. But not hard workers like us who help the customers. It maybe a good place for prices but don't work their! You will be treated unfairly and picked on as well. Too many drama and they messed with me cause of my learning disability. I quit because I wasn't gonna take it anymore. I work hard for them and its...
