AB Ice Cream & Candy Shoppe — Restaurant in Atlantic Beach

There are several ice cream shops on the island but this one is the daddy of em all. Yes it's locally owned but keep reading for why AB really destroys em all.

The ice cream: Yes they use Hershey's ice cream. This speaks for itself. But where AB kicks ass is the number of flavors in both ice cream and toppings. It's endless it seems. Concoctions galore. Like the following flavors as go-to: Coconut Chocolate Almond, Blueberry Cheesecake, and Chocolate Raspberry Truffle. With that waffle cone of course!

The fudge: They make their own and I have tried the cookies and cream. Get it. They offer shipping service for this and I have sent to a friend for birthdays several flavors over some years (digs the chocolate peanut butter). Can eat in or take away from the shop of course.

Other notables: Does milkshakes, sundaes, smoothies. Has some older novelty type candies but have never paid attention to this.

I feel the prices here are competitive to other joints and this isn't always true with places like this. It's a relatively cheap outing to hit that sweet tooth after a day of beach life.

There are some seats inside but have never eaten in. It will get busy on most nights in the summer. Expect it and this is why I do...

Fantastic ice cream, and experience! We always make a few trips every year that we vacation in Atlantic Beach, and it never disappoints. The fudge is also a huge hit with my family and friends that we share it with. Highly recommended to anyone who appreciates good treats!

Also, don't be put off by a long line. Even when things are being handled by just the owner, he flies around making orders and checking customers out, and the line takes moves quickly. All the while, he still took the time to advise us to try certain flavors in case we had never had them before, and even asked if we had a preference for which flavor was on top/bottom.

I walked in and the first thing the young lady who wasn’t wearing a mask, until she realized I was standing there and quickly put it on, then asked if I had one, I said no, she said well we sale them... OK.... or you can go outside and look at the menu... OK, I think I will go to McDonald’s!!! The hypocrisy of people...she didn’t even have her mask on working with the food, and wants me to wear one??? I am a survivor of Covid-19, the last thing you want is a hindering mask while breathing.
