My daughter and I recently had the pleasure of joining the Sunset Bat Watching Tour with Lone Star Kayak Tours, and it was, without a doubt, a highlight of our trip to Austin. From start to finish, the experience was absolutely perfect, and it was all thanks to our incredible guides, Aiden and Wil. Aiden and Wil were not just knowledgeable; they were genuinely wonderful, making us feel welcome and safe on the water since we did not have any experience kayaking. They shared fascinating facts about the bats and the local environment. They truly made the tour an informative and engaging journey, not just a paddle.The sunset view from the water was breathtaking. Watching the millions of bats emerge from under the Congress Avenue Bridge was a truly awe-inspiring spectacle. The perspective from our kayaks was unparalleled—we had a front-row seat to one of nature's most spectacular shows.I cannot recommend Lone Star Kayak Tours highly enough. Lone Star Kayak Tours was a wonderful experience from beginning to end! Reservations were easy to make. Niko texted our group prior to the Saturday outing and gave explicit directions on where to meet for the trip with links! We started on time without incident. Our guide, Preston, was informative, funny and spoke at an appropriate volume for our tour to hear all of his fun facts along the route. Watching the bats on the water is the way to go!!! We are 60 years old and have never kayaked, but the adventure was totally doable! Preston , Niko (and Lincoln) kept us safe and when I capsized my kayak (which apparently NEVER happens), the guides were there in seconds and strong enough to help me get back into my kayak!!!! The kayak trip was amazing! So much fun, my grandson loved it!!! It was so peaceful, and the guides made sure we stayed together. Although we didn’t see as many bats as I expected, the kayak trip was still amazing! Nico was a great tour guide! Cole is a new guide and he was so incredibly friendly and I want to give him an extra shout out! He went back with my husband during the kayak trip when my husband decided to go back, because his legs were feeling numb.
